CG Way out of line on my NIB No Mercy...what layout?
« on: March 29, 2007, 11:29:13 AM »
Specs are 15lb 3 oz 3-4 pin and 3 oz of top...cg is out of line to the left about 1 1/2"-2"

Going with Layout #1 will put the CG in or above my middle finger...may or may not be a problem

I will be double Checking the weights of course before Drilling so it may not be an issue after all but what have you guys done when you ran into this with your No Mercy's

Any Suggestions on what to do or another layout?

On the No Mercy's out of line is/can be a good thing...all depending on which side it is out of line to. Being a righty, a CG out of line to the right allows for more aggressive drills, where out of line to the left depending ont he severiety, could limit strength of drillings. Post a pic of the Pin-Cg-MB

Just remember, negative weight in a No Mercy is a good thing.

You could always drill the middle finger deeper to get the negative statics legal.  You could also drill an X-HOLE on the negative side of the ball.

After looking at the pic, I would suggest having someone check to make sure the CG is not mis marked.  If it's not then get it replaced or use an x-hole on the nagative side.

If your a right handed bowler this may be a problem if your looking to put the HART in the aggressive position (left of thumb).

Just drill it up with the Recommended drilling #1. CGNOMADDAH

It does matter because he can't have over 1oz of negative.  That's why he may need to drill the middle finger deep or use an X-hole to get the HART left of the thumb.

Everything is possible to make something legal.

X-hole's, drilling the fingers to china, drilling the thumb to china, doing whatever. His pro shop guy should know how to fix it.

Putting it simply: Yeah, those things would work, but having the pin-cg-mb in line would make it a lot easier.

Except on a NM.   Read the drilling #1.  How you gonna keep the CG within 1" of the CofG, have that Hart in the track, and have a 4.5+" pin to PAP???

Have you drilled or thrown the NM?   CGMADDAALOT.

WOW, I don't know if I have ever seen one with the HART that far over by the Hammer logo.

Where did you purchase this ball?

I actually am tempted to say that possibly the HART was mismarked and not the CG.   You would have to do some measuring, weighing, and use a determinator to find out.

OR, you could just return it to your local pro shop where you purchased it and exchange it.   They would be able to return it to the distributor.

Agreed...and i agree with everything posted above, and like i said in my first post i will be double checking the weights and it may not be an issue after all...i could very easily go with one of the smooth arc layouts to avoid this issue all together, but i have seen a few locally like that and im not looking for that type of reaction SO looks like we may be drilling the middle finger to China!

I have also seen weight holes just above the middle finger  so we could do something like that...my ball flares away from my fingers pretty good (PAP is 3/4 UP) so it could work as long as it doesnt alter my track...

I won the ball in ALLSTARJOE's Raffle so for 15 bucks i can't complain..."winners" cant be choosers right

Thats a good idea...we will throw it on the determinator to find its "happy spot" and we can go from there...thanks Jason!

Just make sure your pin to pap is 4.5" or longer if your going to use the #1 layout.  I know a few bowlers that didn't like there NM's but each had their pin to pap less than 4".  This ball is too strong to have close pin to pap's.

This ball is flat out awesome if drilled right for your game.

Place the PIN above your RING finger and turn the ball so the HART is about 2" left of thumb hole. The will have neg. side weight but that won't matter much.

IF any one has a determinator find the correct CG and HART spot.

Worse comes to worse, contact Hammer and tell them what you have.

You can send them that one and get a good one. I think a few people have

done this.
