« on: November 07, 2006, 03:12:05 PM »
Well Ive decided to put some money into bowling so im going to buy 3 balls so ill have 4 in total.. what 4 should i pick... bw or nm or ang 1- also what grit?..

Im definatly getting a doom, and a plastic ball, just need my 2 strike balls for hvy oil and medium-hvy oil.

not sure on my revs..
10-12 mphs
12board is my mark..
Also any suggestions on how to increase my speed and not lose my accuracy or revs?

I agree with Chitown...

I don't know why he said the No Mercy as much as he raves about the Raw Hammer series .

Honestly I would get a spare ball, the Doom and the Pain, and then wait until December 5th to get the Toxic. I would drill them ALL the same to be honest. I have the Pain and Doom drilled the same. At most there is 8 boards difference between the two, but usually 6. My guess is the Toxic (Particle Pearl) will be inbetween and get thru carrydown as where the Doom won't exactly be able to.

This is also great suggestion.

this is my arsenal right now:
NM
BW
PAIN
DOOM
SPARE

The Pain and Doom are the best two ball combo out.  This is my opinion!  These two ball can cover everything except for super dry.  If you buy these two balls drill them the exact same. I have both of mine drilled exactly the same and they have perfect speration.

this isnt a review as i have only thrown it once, but the if the no mercy hooks on a fresh shot half as mush as it does on a used ths then this ball might all but eliminate two or three balls from my bag. I had it and my dry heat. I was standing 40 out to 10 with the no mercy with little effort anfd the ball was mooney. I stood 25 and played out to 5 with a little more speed ,not alot, and the ball was still money. My dry heat i stood 25 and left the 10 pin. I could have moved right with the dry heat, but my point is with the no mercy i was able to eliminate the need for the dry heat and my solution. this ball showed no signs of burning up. Just the same smooth continuous arch with every shot. this is oob.League tonight with more oil i hope so i will have a better idea after that. I cant wait.

Chitown I am looking to build my arsenal and starting with the Black Widow.  Love that ball so far.  Averaging 235 the 1st 2 league sets with it.  However I'd like to get something for when the lanes are too dry for the BW.  Since you mentioned the "separation" with the Pain and Doom, I was wondering what your thoughts are on the BW & Doom combo?  Do you think there is enough separation?  It was suggested that these were actually too close and it would be better to have a larger gap.  The recommendation was to add either a Vibe or Tropical Storm....but I really like the Doom (looks and movement and hitting power).  I also don't want to have to buy 1/2 dozen balls (since the "better half" would probably not allow it).  Right now primarily just a league bowler but an occasional adult/youth tournament, and considering possibly doing some ABT stuff.

If you have the BW then the Doom would be a perfect fit.  The BW is just as strong as the Pain but it gives a completely different reaction shape.  The oil handling should be very close with both balls in box condition.  So the Doom would be a great chocie for when the BW is too much.

I would pick the Doom over the vibe.  That's just my opinion.  The Doom smashes racks.  This ball is second to none in the reactive pearl catergory.  I'm talking about carry!  Sure a lot of other reactive pearls hook but how many carry everything?  I have seen alot of reactive pearls leave 9 pins and 8 pins.  Not the Doom it just takes everything down!

The BW and Doom would make a great two ball combo.  In fact you could start out using the Doom.  During practice if it's sliding too much then grab the BW.  If it's not sliging too much then use it.  I use my Doom to figure out how heavy the oil is.

I hope this helps bud.  Oh yes the Pain and Doom are a great combo but that doesn't mean you can't have a great combo with the BW instead of the Pain.

Another thing to remember.  If the lanes become really dry, then no reactive ball will work great.  The Doom can handle light oil with ease.  You may need to move inside a little but that's usually how one plays the lighter oil conditions.  Just grab the Doom nad your good to go.

No Mercy
Black Widow
Blue Vibe
Tuff

If you can flatten your hand enough to throw any ball at spares...then remove the Tuff and add a Doom!

Had a guy shoot 299 in our sport league using the doom I drilled up for him. Very smooth and strong ball that does hit hard. He left a blower 9 pin on his 12th shot. I was very impressed by it. Btw his sport ring he got is awsome. Gold with green stone and he got it free because it was a sport league honor score.
