Defiant vs Deep Purple
« on: September 21, 2012, 08:27:20 PM »
How does the deep purple compare to the defiant? Looking for a strong hammer oil ball. Not a fan of the blue and silver.

From what I've seen they are both very strong. The Defiant will be earlier and smoother, while the Deep purple is more of a hard arcing piece with more backend reaction.

Defiant = solid cover

Deep purple = Pearl cover

I have not thrown the Defiant but from what I understand the Defiant would be a heavy oil ball and a very strong one at that not to say that the Deep purple wouldnt work on heavy oil but I would rather go with the Defiant...just saying!!

The deep purple is little longer than the original taboo, and earlier than the blue/ silver with the same backend but more overall hook maybe two boards

Defiant, as mentioned above, will be earlier and smoother on the back, more suited for heavy patterns. The Deep purple is going to be longer than the defiant, and earlier than the Critical Theory. Critical Theory has a slightly smaller core but higher intermediate diff (i believe) so its going to be longer than the deep purple and stronger on the back.

Good statement BP, for league this season I'm using, when conditions permit, Taboo Deep

 Purple, Black Widow Venom (polished) Swagga (really polished) Nail (love this ball)

and having pretty good success with this line-up, so far so good!!

My take as some of the others is that the Defiant is going to be better on heavier conditions than the Deep Purple.  Even the Track 912T is very close in strength.

Now, the Deep Purple definitely performs well on medium-heavy.  It easily has enough backend and length to allow for multiple lines/angles.  I would say it's more similar to the Critical Theory, 716T/716A or possibly the Storm Lucid.

I just purchased the taboo dp and will hopefully be able to use it in league tonight. I'm going to have it layed out identical to my defiant and hopefully it
 will compliment it well.
