Raw Hammer Pain

The Pain features the Raw Hammer core wrapped with Hammer''s Juiced Reactive coverstock. For strong, continuous backend hook motion in medium to heavy oil, bring on the Pain.

Pin under ring, cg slightly right, box finish

Pros: Smooth
      Solid hit/carry
      Very nice to look at

Cons: Too much push, not enough midlane

Overall: Well, I like the aesthetic looks of the Raw Hammers, but I'm not 100% sold on their performance as of yet. When I picked up the Pain, I expected a ball with a lot of midlane read and smooth backend. Well, I got the smooth backend, but I'm missing my midlane.

I don't know if my speed (18.5 mph) is simply to much for this ball or what, but  I'm simply not seeing the midlane that I want. I'm going to have to knock the surface down to 2000 or 1000 Abralon because as it stands now, I have to feed this ball a lot further into the dry than I care to in order to get it back to the pocket.

I think this ball has a great deal of potential and will most likely be very good for me when all is said and done, but there are definitely some surface prep issues that need to be addressed. If you pick this one up, just be wary of how you prep it.

Got two of them,

Ball 1, pin under inbetween fingers, cg kicked, no weight hole.  I sanded this one to 800, this is my heavy oil ball.  It rolls instantly out of my hand, but still saves enough for a relativly strong backend.  Carry and hit are good, it keeps the pins low. Compared to my widow which is drilled the same way, the widow goes longer, being at 2000, and has more backend.

Ball 2, pin over ring, cg stacked.  Kept this one obb at 2000.  This fits right after the widow, does almost the exact same thing, but doesn't handle as much oil.  In other words, a good medium oil ball that will let you play straight or deep and still has the recovery to make the turn down lane.  

The pain is a steal at only $160 a very good compliment to the widow.

Got this ball for Christmas. Drilled 1 inch pin to pap. Pin down, 1 inch above midline. No hole. Left at 1000 Abralon. This ball blends out the over-under reaction that I saw at many different houses. Have had a 300 with this ball. Works good on meduim oil. The ball is best going straighted due to the early rolling pin position. I keep it at 1000 so that if I use it that I can start straighter then progress inside and still have the ball get there.
