Doom vs Angular One
« on: May 10, 2007, 06:50:49 AM »
Anyone have both? I have a Doom and was thinking of trading my Toxic for an A One. My Doom is 4" pin to pap above the ring and its pretty skid flippy. If I drill an AO with the pin the same and MB at 60deg. what can I expect.

a much stronger ball, oil wise and alot more backend, but it will prolly lose its reaction pretty quick, because they are notorious for that

I thought my Hammers hit hard, until I whipped a LM/L ball into the pocket. WOW!

Arsenal:
-Terminator
-Big Bang

I owned both the DOOM and AO at the same time.  The AO is a strong ball.  It can handle more oil and has a bigger back end.  The only thing it doesn't have more than the DOOM is carry.  Don't get me wrong, the AO carry's very good but the DOOM is really amazing in the carry department.  For me the DOOM carry's every light hit and doesn't leave many 9 pins.

Both of these balls could work well in an arsenal together.

He's right. I have a Doom but I have never had a AO. The Doom hits so hard when it goes light that it's unreal.

AO by far stronger (more boards and more backend). Doom much more controllable ball and for me much better ball.

I never believed in stuff like "leaving more 9pins" or "better carry" NEVER... till the day i (Doom) played against my brother (Angular One) on a 35 medium to heavy tournament pattern. He covered about 20 boards while i was playing down and in. He lost about 300 - 350 points in 6 games. There must be something true in this "carrying" think beyond players ability to hit the pocket.
