Dry Ball suggestions

Im a stroker.. throwing about 10-12 mph on the 12 board..i am currently using a smoking inferno and it works great on med+ lanes but i need a ball for dry lane conditions... any suggestions?

The Rotogrip Mercury.  It's a pearl and goes very long and then gradually turns.  Good dry lane ball

As slow as your speed is, I wouls suggest the Red XXXl also. You may get away with a Power Groove Dry/R with a week drilling.

If you can find it, I would recommend the Track Desert Heat.  Just got one from Clint Daley and man, that ball is smooth.  My first piece of Track equipment and I'm very impressed.  Be careful of the Tropical Storm.  I have one and don't really care for it on dry conditions.  If you get one, put a very weak drill on it and keep it polished.

If you are truely looking for a DRY lane ball, then you could go with a burgundy PURE, or I bet you are really looking for a purple VIBE.    

I have 4 VIBES in my arsenal.   They all play well on light/dry conditions.  


Hmm.....Hammer forum and S,B,and T balls being mentioned????????????

Yes, this is the Hammer forum but does that matter? He even said he loves his Smokin Inferno which is not Hammer. Chill out. We are making recommendations based on best chance to score, PERIOD. Not just by Hammer which by the way, doesn't really have a great dry lane ball. Vibe is stronger than advertised and so are the pure hammers. If he could move in, then maybve these are options but to keep him in his comfort zone, I do not recommend any of those.

The Vibe is not stronger than advertised. If you cant keep it off the headpin with a Vibe, then it is a toast condition which is not even remotely considered a light oil pattern but more of a neglected, overused pair of lanes. In that case, plastic would be the most viable option of which the Tuff fits the bill.

Ten Pin Killer, I respect your opinion but I strongly disagree. His comfort zone is not inside when the lanes dry up and the Tuff is just like most plastic balls and does not carry very well. The XXXL has more pop to it with a better core wrapped by plastic. You have to consider all the intangeables.

Just a hunch but if he was looking for a Lane 1 ball, wouldn't he have posted this topic in Lane 1's forum?   They do have one, don't they?

I would venture to say that 225's problem is his lack of ball speed more than it is anything else, not the ball or condition. I have no problem with Lane #1 products since I happen to own one and I also agree that the XXXL will have more pop than a Tuff (which is Hammers answer to a White Dot/Maxim, etc, etc). The only thing I disagree with is that you contend that a Vibe is stronger than advertised and that Hammer doesnt have a great dry lane ball. I will agree that a Vibe is pretty strong for toast in which plastic is the only viable option. There is a difference between a fresh light oil pattern and neglected toast............

I have heard some great things about the vibes.  I have never seen one thrown so I can't suggest weather that is going to be a good choice or not for your situation.

I will say this though.  On a really dry synthetic lane there's not one reactive ball that will work great.  I had a desert heat drilled to go long.  I placed the pin above my bridge 5.5" from pap.  On real dry synthetic lanes it was too much ball.

With your slow ball speed and synthetic lanes I would venture to say that the SLATE BLUE GARGOYLE would probably be your best bet.  This ball has a urethane cover and a decent core.  I have seen one in action and it works very good on dry lanes.  In fact i'm kind of surprised other ball makers don't make a urethane ball with a strong core.

Hammer guys if your reading this take note.  Make a urethane ball with a strong core for dry lanes.

I agree Chi.........I would love to see a modern hammer urethane or plastic hammer with a performance core. My Faball blue pearl and my Red Faball are still very servicable but it would be cool to see some modern retro Hammers like those in action.
