Epidemic vs Trap
« on: November 05, 2011, 05:06:07 PM »
I'm thinking of purchasing either the Epidemic or the Trap. How do these compare? Which is the stronger ball?

On the hammer website the FCC rating on the trap and epidemic both total 19. The core is stronger on the trap, but according to the FCC rating, the cover is  stronger on the epidemic. How are these balls different?  Is one stronger than the other in different parts of the lane?

I have both balls.  both balls have similar down lane reactions but the trap snaps more and the epidemic just turns hard.  The epidemic responds better to surface changes and the trap is not as jumpy to dry boards.  They r rated the same by hammer but btm magazine gives the trap the stronger hook rating.  49 to47 of the epidemic but they mentioned sanding the epidemic makes it a hook monster.
