Hammer Black Widow Assassin and Cobalt Vibe Question
« on: February 18, 2014, 06:33:01 PM »
I was wondering if you all could give me some advice. I currently have a Taboo blue/silver and a Motiv QZ2(blue) both drilled pin up with the cg/mb kicked out. I have always been a fan of the Black widow line and the new Assassin looks great.

My question is, I want to know how the Assassin and the Cobalt would fit with the two balls i already have. Along with the Assassin and the Cobalt, i was looking at getting a Hyroad as a benchmark ball. Would any of these balls overlap? I want to stay away from getting two balls that will be so close together that it wouldn't really matter.

Thanks!

The Assassin & Cobalt Vibes are similar in getting down the lane & a nice strong backend finish... the Assassin is about 6-8 boards stronger overall than the Cobalt.

With the balls that you have right now, these 2 Hammer balls will fit perfectly in your gaps... The Blue/Silver Taboo is for oiler pattern, while the Assassin will be your medium-heavier patterns, the QZ2 will be for medium patterns, & the Cobalt will be for the drier patterns...

The Hy-Road is also a great option for the medium patterns...

Hope this helps your question....

Thank you, Michael. Your response really helps. Just one more question... Would the reaction from the Assassin and QZ2 be too similar? I find that angular balls work better with my softer speed, but don't want to have too much of an overlap if I don't need it.

Sorry, been out of the game for about a year or so and haven't looked at any of the new bowling equipment until now.

For me, the Vibe series is stronger than a simple dry lanes ball.  I love them on house shots.  Very predictable.  The only ball I see that might not see mush lane time in your arsenal would be the Hyroad depending on how strong your Motiv ball is.  The Assassin, Hyroad, and Vibe would be a good arsenal as long as you vary the layouts a little bit.  How do you like your QZ2?  Is it pretty strong?  I've been looking at that ball a little bit lately.

I love my QZ2, but it's drilled a little long for me so I need to get it fixed. It is super predictable and carries on just about any condition other then super oily condition. Also was thinking about retiring it and saving it for a rainy day.

I was thinking about using my Taboo(blue silver), assassin, and a cobalt vibe for league play. Then for tournaments add a ratchet, hyroad, and my good old Faball from before I was born... Oh yeah, that ball is money. Haha! Does that sound like it'll work?
