Hammer Blue Vibe
« on: June 20, 2017, 02:23:38 PM »
Today's the day!!! The Hammer Blue Vibe is available in your local pro shops. I have thrown it on various house shots, and will give my review. I missed out on the originals, but could not miss this opportunity. So far, I am happy with my decision. I drilled this one pin down, and the motion is great for the layout. It is a great step down ball when they dry up a bit, and continues the tradition of Hammer's hitting power. Add this to your arsenal immediately! #teamebi #bluevibe

Did anyone else hear an echo?

I do have some feedback.
Out of box, it was super clean and fairly weak from what I saw on the burned up house shot
I really had to be soft and/or get it to the dry on purpose, if I missed in and didn't quite roll it decent, it would miss the pocket, light, etc
Was thinking this would be for dry lanes only at this point
Put fresh 2000 pad to it and threw it last week on fresh house pattern
It was a different piece, actually read a touch early for me, had to move in deeper than I like at the start. but overall, very predictable motion, not at all jumpy, I did not have any over/under that I saw.
I have a 3.5" pin-pap layout, pin is in my ring finger. An aggressive layout for me.
If you get this piece, I would drill it with a stronger pin-pap unless you have low ball speed or high rev rate.
Definitely a keeper in my bag

So how does the new blue vibe compare to the old cobalt blue vibe.  I really liked the original on a lot of flatter patterns where I could keep it in front of me

They should be very close since Hammer says the Blue's coverstock is the same as the Onyx Vibe, the original Blue's successor, Cutthroat Plus. The original Blue had the plain Cutthroat coverstock

The new Blue Vibe is a remake of the original Blue Vibe, which had the Cutthroat.

The Cobalt Vibe is NOT the Blue Vibe. The Cobalt had the Vicious Reactive cover.

I'm not sure what the real world differences will be, but the cover is different.

Sorry, there were so many Vibes, I didn't know the "Cobalt" Blue wasn't just the detailed name for the original Blue.

This new blue vibe is darker than the Cobalt.  However my ball driller just punched the new one and said it is very close to the cobalt which he really liked.  The vibe core is very good, but really depends on the shell matchup.  The Virals were not good at all for me , but the Cobalt and the blue hammer remake were both great core shell matchups

I also missed out on the vibes back then, and decided on which one will fit my arsenal, and decided on the cherry; Can't wait to use it on our shorter house/sport patterns.

But the Cobalt Vibe (finally found it on 123Bowl) is a pearl, not the current re-issue solid or the original solid.

The Virals and the last set of pearl Vibes all used newer and worse match-ups with the core.

The new Blue Vibe has the same cover as the old Onyx Vibe, CT Reactive Plus.  The new Cherry Vibe has the same cover as the old Blue Vibe, CT Reactive.

With very limited testing the new Blue is a bit straighter than the old one with a similar layout.

After throwing the new Blue Vibe on various lane patterns and different surface adjustments... this ball is much smoother than the original one, which is not a bad thing... I finally settled on a 800 abranet w/ clean & sheen as the FF polish was a little too long and a little over/under for my liking... I still have my original Blue & Onyx; although they are drilled a little different than my new Blue... the new Blue rolls pretty darn close to the original Onyx for me...

Now the Cherry, does roll very almost identical to the old Blue and the surface prep is at 1000 w/ FF polish... not the box finish (which is 2000 w/ FF polish)...

Hope this helps as these are great additions to the Hammer lines... really loving these new Vibes for the lighter medium / drier lane patterns...
