Hammer Rebel
« on: August 26, 2016, 01:25:17 PM »
This ball has been getting rave reviews from the staffers around the web, but has anybody else had much experience with it yet? A true medium oil/benchmark type of ball is something I'm missing right now and any information on it from those who have used it would be much appreciated.

Going off of the specs it looks like a good fit, although with the NBT Pearl coverstock that is on both the Red Legend (pearl) and Cold Blood I'm wondering if it's stronger than expected.

I don't know what was expected, but I threw a bunch at a recent demo days
great pearl piece which is missing in my bag.
medium piece in my opinion, predictable
My benchmark piece is the GB2 and this could be just as good

Would it be considered weaker and handle a touch less oil than the GB2 MVP?
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend
IQ Tour

2 different pieces
Gb2 mvp is earlier, has more Midlane and is stronger overall
Rebel is cleaner, longer and weaker overall IMO.
Definitely can have both in your bag for different looks

Yeah, that's pretty much the information I was looking for. Seems like it's a true medium option that doesn't run over into the medium-heavy areas. I have everything above medium covered. Sounds like the Rebel could be just what I'm looking for.

how does it differ from a GB2 Gold?

The Rebel you can play a lot deeper on the fresh than a GB2 Gold. On suggestion of a staffer, this has been a great replacement for my Marvel Pearl. It skids easily to wherever you throw it, revs up hard and continues strong.

I've never had a Marvel Pearl, but heard many great things about it. The Rebel is sounding better and better. For what it's worth I'm envisioning getting something to go under the eventual Jackal LE, Mastermind Intellect, and Unhinged (which is drilled strong and reacts strong for me).

So there was a ball demo today that I had completely forgotten about. For me the Rebel was really smooth. Of course I had a hard time getting a good feel with the limited number of span sizes and interchangeable finger grips available but compared to the other stuff I tried it was definitely the mildest in any part of the lane. Seems like it would indeed be a good choice for medium oil. My concerns about the coverstock being too strong have been alleviated.
