HAMMER WIDOW GOLD VS SCANDAL PEARL

Any thoughts? What is the difference in motion with the Semtex vs the Semtex CFI? And asymmetrical vs symmetrical?

The Black Widow Gold is way more down the lane/off the spot. The Scandal Pearl is fairly clean, but still more rolly than angular. I think the Gold is a better ball overall, but as always it depends on the shape you're looking for.

If you are going to buy a strong pearl from Hammer get a ball with the gas mask core (ie the Black Widow).  Probably won't see very many balls going forward with the Scandal core but will probably still see gas mask core balls 5 to 10 years from now.  Telling you from experience at least on THS the Scandal Pearl for me is a pretty meh ball.

I'm looking for more angular. I suppose I can always make the gold a little rolly and smoother, if needed, with surface.  How do they handle oil.  I've read some stuff that the gold isn't really a heavy oil ball and doesn't do well on oil.

Any idea how the gold compares to the red legend (pearl) or the original widow pearl? Original widow pearl was pretty good for me on a house shot, but anything over medium it wasn't great.  It needed some defined friction to move for me.

Very few pearls are that great on the flood unless you have a ton of hand.  Scandal Pearl might handle a little more oil than the Black Widow but not sure I would use either until you start to see some transition on fresh or heavy oil.

Yeah, I wouldn't call the Black Widow Gold or 90% of the pearls out there true "heavy" oil balls. Not sure if you mean volume or length though. Regardless, it depends on what you're looking for the ball to do as well. I prefer balls like this for some of the longer patterns so it actually has something left when it comes out of the oil. Some don't. Just have to apply what you know about your own game and go from there.

No idea how it compares to the original Black Widow Pearl. I think it's stronger than the Red Legend Pearl in every way though. Those that I witnessed in person weren't that impressive in my opinion.

Neither will puke more than likely as they are both really long but heard many complain about over under with the Scandal Pearl (I throw so hard not as big an issue for me).  I guess if I was only going to own only one non spare ball perhaps I would think about the Scandal Pearl as it might be a little more versatile but if I was looking to fill the strong pearl spot in my arsenal definitely would recommend the Black Widow as that asym core is awesome and that ball will allow you to get deeper when you need to.  Personally the Honey Badger is my left turn ball but it handles less oil than either of these but love me some 2 piece bowling balls.

I heard that the honey badger is probably the most back end and left turn off any ball.? But didn't like carry down.  I heard a lot of people took the shine off to try to combat this.

The new Hammer Ripd is a heavy oil hybrid from what I'm seeing.
It a good 4-5 boards more than the Gauntlet Fury by my estimation
got to throw the Ripd at a demo days and brought my fury along with.
The fury is possibly the best shiny ball in the EBI line-up right now
But, as you mentioned, It needs some friction in order to be effective
I'm getting the Ripd punched up Monday, so I will know come next week how it performs in game 1

Katana is pretty strong off the spot too (and can handle a decent amount of oil) but the one I haven't seen myself but heard is insane is the Lethal Paranoia.  That ball definitely back ends harder than the HB.  Not a 2 piece though.

I'm not sure if that's the best way to describe the Honey Badger. It's strong down the lane, but not in a way that's a really sharp move sideways.

Going in blind here since I haven't seen one in person yet, but if I was buying something that's supposed to have that kind of motion I would probably go with the Verdict Pearl. Ebonite has had some really good balls with the Warrior/Maverick/Verdict core family (different cores in the lines, but similar to each other). Seems like they let the ball get down the lane and really come off the spot nicely.
