And they said i could never do it. Well i did i shot my first 300 with this ball out the ball out the box. Pretty good for someone who balls off the wrong foot.Im a right handed bowler and i end up on the right foot lol.My buddy drilled up a 14 pound for me and man this ball rips to the pocket, unbelievable is all i can say.No matter were i put this ball it struck but ya better have some speed behind if not bye bye towards the 7 pin, for righties of course. I typically throw columbia but now ill be throwing both so thanks hammer for a hard hitting ball. YES IT HOOKS--J HOOK I CALL IT

The monster has finally been unleashed.

The Hawg Zilla is without a doubt the best of all the Hawg series balls.  The new Ultra Violent coverstock produces a more angular breakpoint out of the box than its predecessor the Road Hawg.  The Ultra Violent coverstock is also much more adjustable, taking to a shine easily. When shined, the Hawg Zilla is much more skid/flip. Comparing this ball to the Black Widow, which utilizes a similar coverstock, the Zilla is a much better ball for heavier. In box finish, it is 5-10 boards more (depending on bowler’s rev rate) overall hook than the Black Widow. When polished this ball is more angular down the lane than the Black Widow.  What more can we say besides that it hooks, and hooks where you want it to hook: mid lane and down the lane. Even with the weaker layout that was used, the ball still flat-out hooked. For hammer loversor at that any bowler who wants hook, this is a must have. Lower to medium rev players I highly recommend using this ball in box finish. For higher rev players polish would be suggested

Way to go BG and Hammer, looks like things are back on track in the high end line. This is your best high end release since the Big Deal.

Bowler’s pap on high diff. balls: 4 ¾, up 3/8

Layout used: 5 x 4 ½, pin 2” above midline

Lane conditions recommended: med-heavier oil

Drill:modified label 3 3/8 but with
the virtual "MB" to the right of thumb.

Lane Condition:recently resurfaced ths

I chose this drill to help take control of its strength
and to give it some versatility.Yes this ball is that
easy to play any part of the THS and fit to any style
of bowler.I was able to play 20 to 5 and have the rev
and turn but do not get soft or it is split city,I was
also able to play the channel with a soft belly of 10
to 5 this is where i like to play and the ball had lots
of power at the pocket for me with this drill in heavier
oil I will be able to play up the channel and be happy.

Drilled with the pin under bridge, cg kicked out an inch and a half right of midline. Coverstock left in oob condition. I was really surprised by the smooth and controlled reaction I got with the Hawg Zilla. When the Black Widow and Hawg Wild were overreacting the HZ allowed me to play more direct with a softer touch. It began a mild midlane move which increased predictably to about 50 to 53 feet or so, from that point on it held its trajectory smack dab into the pocket. Light hits carried very, very well and flush pocket hits kept the pins low rarely leaving fast 10's or solid 8 or 9's. On two different nights in practice on a medium to lightly oiled THS I shot 248, 279, 279, 258 (I take 5 balls to practice and normally shoot two games per ball).

I'm not sure how the HZ will perform on heavy oil. I thought it would burn up on the Medium condition but it held the line exceedingly well, certainly better than my Black Widow. I know it was designed for floods but unless I take the converstock down some I can't see it as a heavy oiler but I may be wrong. At any rate, on a medium THS it was awesome. 10 out of 10.

AWESOME ball !!

I am a cranker with high ball speed, average around 225-230 the last few years. 2 of the nights I bowl, we have heavy oil with moderate backends. So I wanted a hooker, and boy did I get it.

The ball is drilled, CG dead center between fingers and thumb, no weight, straight up drilling. I gave it a little shining.    WOW !

I threw the ball between 3rd and 4th arrow out to about the 5 board. The ball gets through the heads clean, goes into a little arcing hook, then it snaps to the hole. A perfect reaction for me on this condition. The only thing is, if you hit the ball too soon or get too soft, say hello to the nose. But thats a good thing, it lets you know when you throw it like a donkey.

DO NOT ATTEMPT TO THROW ON SHORT OIL OR DRY LANES!!!!  I REPEAT, DO NOT ATTEMPT
When it hits the pins, the pins stay low, which is exactly what you want, thus increasing carry by a lot. Most new balls throw the pins up, which is why you see so many solid hits, especially those 7 pins.

Best ball I have thrown yet, BY FAR. Nothing even comes close to the HAWG ZILLA NOTHING.

Awesome Ball!!

I finally did it,  I shot my first 300 with the Hawg-Zilla.
What a ball!  Every ball I threw was right there in the pocket with no question  of leftovers!  I got this ball just a couple months ago and the first time I just it in a marathon tournament I cashed with it. And now the 300!  I don't get as much hook from this ball as I had expected, except on certain pairs at the house I bowl in.  I do feel that the reaction I get with it is very predictable once you get use to it. The Hawg-Zilla has the most hook out of all my balls including the Storm Passion but not more the 3 or 4 boards at the most.  So if my Passion just wont seem to get to the pocket I pull this one out and I am right there!  I have the pin just to right of the ring finger and I have the side weight hole.  I would definitely recommend this ball!  This was my first Hammer ball and I will definitely be getting another one.

This is my first ball review.  I have been bowling for over 20 years and hold a 219 average in two houses.  I drilled the Hawg-Zilla to fill a void in my arsenal from the advice of my ball driller.  The ball has a 3"pin and is drilled with stacked leverage.  This ball outhooks all the competition.  For most shots it is just too much in the oob finish.  I highly recomend polish if you have any hand in the ball.  In the oob finish I had to move so far left that this ball had no drive when it got to the hole.  This ball comes back from anywhere it just leaves nothing but corners.  Since polishing the Zilla it is a monster.  The polish allows me to play a swing shot and have a violent backend.  This ball was drawing a lot of attention.  Corners just do not stand a chance anymore.  The Zilla is about 5-7 boards stronger than the black widow.  When the black widow is not finishing strong enough the zilla really opens up the lane.

Have had this ball a couple of months now and it has to be my favorite ball of all time so far. Wasn't till recently that i started using it all the time. I have had a number of balls from the black widow, paradigm, Ulitimate inferno, infinite one, EPX, and so on a so forth.

The ball has a the factory finish. I drilled it with the CG dead center and the pin about an inch away at 4 oclock from my finger. (The wet/dry suggested drilling). I throw it hard and up the 12-15 board depending on the lanes. Sence I have had this ball i make usually a board move throughout a 3 game series. The last 6 league nights i have averaged 240 a game with it and the last 3 nights have been shooting 510 or higher after two games.

For the most part it acts more like an angular ball with the speed i put on it. Heads straight for the pocket and makes one small snap at the end. But if you get it out to far it has a nice smooth arc that comes driving in. If you throw it slower with more revs it has a large but easily controlled smooth arc that doesn't quit.

Bought this after being disappointed with the lack of hook and carry from the Passion even after taking cover to 500 grit. Had Hawgzilla drilled stacked leverage with pin just below and right of ring finger, took the coverstock from 4000 to 1000 grit abralon and LOOK OUT. This ball hooks like crazy and hits the pocket hard. I had been struggling the last 4 weeks, dropping my average from 198 to 185. Brought out the Zilla last night, 215,233,240. If you need something for medium to heavy oil with good backend, this is a great choice. Hammer does it again...

I'm right handed, average 225ish, medium ball speed, little hand, too old to keep up with you young guys I had mine drilled 3 3/8 by 3 3/8 my usual Columbia pattern.  I had an Action Max drilled the same and used that most of the time but lately I've been leaving a lot of ten pins, 5-6 a game.  So I pulled out my HawgZilla and WOW, everything is going down.  We bowl 4 game sets and this week I've had a 959 and a 994; both should have been an easy grand but I still can't keep a clean set.  This ball is smooth, predictable and carries everything, so far.  I haven't made any surface adjustments but looks like I don't need too.  It been a while since I bought a Hammer product but with Columbia selling out I may have found a new line I like.

Pin under ring, cg kicked right, slight shine

Pros: Early read
      Smooth arc
      Solid hit/carry

Cons: A bit condition specific
Bad color mixing (some are nearly black, others have a tone of red in them)

Overall: This is a nice ball for heavier patterns that demand smooth reactions. The ball picks up very early in the midlane and just arcs all the way home. In my experience, the ball works best playing straighter up the lane on tighter patterns that don't offer a great deal of free hook. It can also handle carrydown quite well because it gets rolling so early. If you put a touch of polish to it, the ball can be swung a bit, but your speed needs to be slower in order to give it time to make the backend.

I don't know if I'd consider this a true, heavy oil ball, at least not for a person with my speed (18.5 mph), but it works great on heavier mediums. Just figure out what you want to use it on and how the cover needs to be prepped, and you'll have a winner on your hands.

Just got this ball used on here and it does great the pin is to the right of the ring finger and CG straight down. With the pin in that location it gets down the lane with ease and makes a sharp turn left. It has the hockey stick type of hook. Its a very strong ball but with the layout if there is carry down the backend dies a little but putting more hand into it corrects that. This ball has great hitting power and carry. If you miss pocket this ball has pins going all over the deck, but with it being so angular on the backend it does tend to leave splits if your not on your mark. So far Im pleased with it, My first game I shot was a 231 with it and shot some other 200+ games with it. Great ball if you can get one!
