Hammer backlash
« on: June 29, 2018, 01:15:49 AM »
I just found a hammer backlash, and looked at it and it's in REALLY good condition so I decided to do some research on it, seems like it would be the perfect dry lane ball. It has something around 0.31 diff which I can't find in any ball today. Anyone have one of these back in the day? How'd it roll its the blue/silver one not the red/purple one

I still have the red one and for me it truly is my dry lane ball. Rolls really good for me, hits real solid too.

The Blue/Silver one is much rollier and smoother, almost urethane-like, than the Red/Purple one, which was longer with a more powerful backend.

Like Byars, I loved the Red/Purple one and found the Blue/SIlver one, although much better looking, of limited use. It handled more oil than the Red/Purple one too.

The Blue/Silver had the Max Control coverstock, while the Red/Purple one had the Max Length. The R/P was for light oil; the Blue/Silver was more for light-medium to medium oil, for me, who is rev dominant.

If you're speed dominant, you may find the Blue/Silver useful.

I'm more of high speed med-high rev... If anything slightly speed dominant. Think if I put a little bit higher flaring layout and play with the surface it'll do me some good. Don't want it to overlap my hustle ink or my urethane smoother reactions aren't typically my go to but when the lanes get tough I bet it'll be money

It could. It also depends on how dry, how light an oil pattern, it actually is. Being speed dominant, you should get some use from it. The Backlashes were good balls with a unique core.

+1 ......^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ on what he said!

Those blue/silver backlashes were money back in the day, and I've always regretted not picking one up! Glad you were able to find one....you'll love it!

Here's the specs on this ball! Jeff Ussery was the brand manager when this was released and he gave me one to try.

Not trying to be a company shill (Oh, who am I kidding? I totally am!), but the After Darks are 2.56 0.030 with S30, which got thru the burn almost as clean as plastic.

Just saying.
