Taboo Jet black question
« on: July 07, 2014, 01:21:52 PM »
Hey guys!

I know that its  a couple years old now but I really wanted to get the Taboo Jet black and had a question.  I wanted to use this on medium oil conditions and was wondering if there is current ball that has a similar motion to this or similar specs (what its supposed to do).  If there is one in the hammer line up now that would be great but it doesn't have to be.  Thank you!

You can still get one one, they are available almost everywhere I think. Hammer might be the slowest in discontinuing balls in their lineup

The JB Taboo is a good piece, but I found it to be a little too skid/flippy or over/under on most patterns out of the box. If you can get a great deal on it & put the surface at 4000 that will smooth out the over/under issue.

The new Legend is a stronger overall ball (about 6-8 boards stronger) and this ball is amazing on how well it handles the transition due to the Hybrid coverstock. I would recommend the Legend (it's that good), but if you can get a great deal on the JB Taboo, go for it!

Hope this helps...

Is there a video out there showing the Jet Black Taboo vs the Black Widow Legend?

Both in box?  Let me know, would love to see it!

Sorry I tried to find a video of the two but couldn't.

I do own a BW Legend and my teammate owns a JB Taboo. I was thinking of getting one a while back because of his, but I am happy I went with the BW Legend. Both are strong balls, but my BW Legend is stronger and handles transition a lot better. The both have the Gas Mask Core, but I think that the NBT hybrid coverstock is the big difference.

I don't think you could go wrong with either though.

I think that my eyes tell me the JB Taboo in its polished box finish is very sensitive to wet/dry!  I have my 14 pound JBT at about 2000 just a tad smoother.

For some reason the BW legend almost reminds me of the original solid and appears to be slightly smoother off the wet dry than even my polish removed JB Taboo.

Any thoughts?

I never owned the original, but I wish I did. It is extremely smooth off of the wet/dry  OOB. I've haven't made any surface adjustments yet with it because I am satisfied with what it does now.

Both are good, I'm just happy I went with the BW Legend over the JB Taboo.
And it seems like a rarity to find someone else who throws 14lbs. Everyone throws 15 or 16 around me and keeps trying to convince my to go up to 15lbs.

EL,

Thanks for the comments!

I have the JB Taboo in 14 drilled (great deal to try), it moves so hard places someplaces that it is an absolute hit king!  and a JET Black in 15 still undrilled.

I am thinking of making a deal to go to the BW legend...as our wet/dry is only conquered by our best lofters with the JB Taboo.
