The Hammer Rhodman
« on: April 06, 2017, 05:29:29 PM »

Just saw this ball being announced in today's email blast.

Looking at the finish, cover, and core, this doesn't look much different than the Bad Intentions, with a variant of the coverstock. Is this just the TNBA variant of a ball that is coming out, yet not one from the special reserve?

I'd be surprised if this really sold well. I'm more interested in the 2 The Scorpion balls that showed up on the approved list

I'm surprised Hammer hasn't capitalized on the "Thor" theme.

Don't think Hammer could get past the trademarks unless they and Marvel agree to some sort of partnership.

Strange release. I mean, there is a spot for it in the current lineup but it seems to be a very small one.

It's the Bad Ass/Intentions core with a variation of the Bad Intentions cover

Well, yeah. They have to say stuff like that. Companies aren't going to put something out there like "this ball has a lot of overlap with others in our lineup but it's still great so buy it!" or anything along those lines.

That's not to say the Rhodman won't be a good ball. Out of the Bad series the Intentions was the best from what I've seen and a remake isn't an awful idea. There's just a lot of other options for something that would cover similar conditions (and shape) in Hammer's own lineup.

True. It might come down to how they would market the ball.

Mjollnir would be a cool name for a ball... although just trying to see and hear how people pronounce it at the pro shops would be even better.

As a new bowler why so many balls coming out so fast? It's like every 3 months or so. Technology isn't coming out that fast. All these "big hook" balls Cash,Ptibull,Mako,Gauntlet etc. Don't they all do the same job if its alot of oil down(ths). Just wondering.

Yeah pretty obvious the industry to get the fattest margins has to really market the latest whiz bang big hook oilers when most people are better off with a nearly decade old Hy-road on the conditions they will see most.  I guess they succeeded in getting me to buy a Scandal pearl (at least it can do THS) lol.
Kind of noob when made this account so take advice with grain of salt.

Let's explain this as simple as I can.

In theory:

Ball company brings out oil hungry monster.
Bowling center puts down more oil.
Oil hungry monster doesn't hook as much.
Ball company releases new oil hungry monster.

Ad nauseum.

Why would anybody buy anything new when there is so much good stuff on clearance. This every month ball stuff is about ridiculous.

Maybe if your bowling PBA stuff it comes into play. But as an average league bowler it makes zero sense to me.As far as this Rhodman ball.Just a bad intention remake looks to me.
Just bought 3 balls on clearance. Not a one over 60$.Thats 180 cant buy a Storm top of the line for hardly that. You guys keep buying the new stuff. Not a bash on any company but dang when is enough enough.

USBC is about to crash but ball manufacturing is Booming.Maybe they need to merge together.
