They apparently did not sell out last night.  Still some #15s and #16s left.  Since they didn't sell out quickly like some of the other previous XRs, I'm guessing the resale market is not going to be as profitable for those who were hoping to make a killing on ebay.

Glad I already made a deal for my extra ball!

I kind of expected that with the way the Envy XR was handled. If you make something "exclusive", stick with the original production number. When they upped the count from 400 +/- to over 700, that pretty much killed the resale value of the Envy XR.

Still a smart move on Barnes part though, dude has made good money on all of them I bet.

No doubt!  From what I understand, a limited run like this is going to cost about $90 per ball.  Barnes perhaps negotiated an even better price though.  But this is what I've read in the past.  They sell them for $140 and they probably spend about $10 per ball on shipiing.  So $40/ball profit.  Multiply that by 533 (for this release) for a total profit of $21,320.  Granted there are additional costs of staffing people to handle the product coming in and going out.  Regardless, Barnes is making some "easy" money.  I personally refuse to buy into this type of product.  It's a bowling ball after all, not gold.  I have no need to spend a premium price on a "rare" bowling ball.

But, but, but....my Vibe collection wouldn't be complete without the new red one!  :o ;D ;D

That is why I purchased this one, to keep up with all of the Vibes in my collection... Only missing the rare (Purple/Gold Vibe - INTL ball)...

Regardless of what y'all think, there isn't any "easy" money to be made anywhere in the bowling industry.

If it was that easy and risk free don't you think more would do it?

As I understand it, it's a solid. Supposed to be the same cover as the Blue Vibe.

The "risk" is when will it get to the point where the lemmings stop buying into the hype.  For a company that is already set up for online sales and to bring in and ship out product, this is "easy" money.  Of course the key is marketing and I think Barnes really caught on to something with the numbering.  People love limited rare items, and then you put a number on it and it makes it even more special.  Then you also kind of "trap" those that already bought into the original XR.  You give them pre-order privileges so that they can secure the number they have for the next release.  Those people feel like they HAVE TO BUY IT!  Collecting bowling balls is a waste of money.

Well, that is one opinion.  :D

The new Vibe XR doesn't seem to be generating near as much excitement on Ebay as the original XR. The bidding has been luke warm to say the least. Looks like the party is over! At least until the NEXT limited release.  ;D ;D

I bought three total, one I traded before I even received it, one goes into my "waste of money" Vibe collection.  :o  And the third one I have drilled and will be throwing tonight for the first time.

I was afraid of this....I got one too, but I need a weaker type of ball right now.

What type of condition did you play it in and what would you compare it to?
