Widows w/gas mask vs Jet black w/gas mask
« on: March 31, 2015, 05:38:27 PM »
Since the original black widow came out I have purchased most every ball in the line. Each new release in the widow line has always been popular in my area and I've seen a lot of people have a lot of success. However, I have not been having the same luck. For me, I'm mediocre at best with the gas mask in the widows. Then I tried the Jet Black Taboo and that ball was money for me. Unfortunately I sold my JBT as it had seen better days. I can't find anything for the life of me that rolls like that one did for me. Did the coverstock really make that much of a difference? I usually leave my equipment OOB unless I really think I'm on to something.
The difference between Ordinary and Extraordinary is that little Extra.

I hope this thread is still alive and kicking. I thought I was the only one who found the "right" ball with the Jet Black Taboo. I've never had a ball roll so well for me (and I've owned A LOT of bowling balls) and be so forgiving and predictable. I've asked around and talked to a few pro shops. I finally just chalked it up that this specific ball matched up perfectly with my own game. When I talked to one PSO he said, "Oh, you should try something newer, you'll find another one that will suit you." Well I have (bought the Optimus & Talon) I know these balls dont have exactly the same specs but I got them drilled the same and they are so jumpy compared to my JBT. I've been trying to find something else that compares to it. I thought the Red Legend Solid would compare nicely but one PSO said it will start rolling a lot sooner and it will not have that same smoothness through the Heads. He recommended the regular Black Widow Legend. I was too leary to pull the trigger.
I finally went to EBAY and found a brand new JBT undrilled and won the bid @ $120. A great deal. Of course it had to be my weight I was looking for and it was. I still haven't drilled it and it sits waiting until my current Taboo dies (only have about 140 games on it).
 Again
I own around 15 balls and nothing has matched up to the roll like the JBT for me.  If anyone knows of another comparable ball or thoughts on why this ball may be so good for many, I would love to hear.
keeones23-  What surface do you prefer on the JBT? Did you buy another ball yet? Any other ball you own compare?

Thanks
