Imo, from what I've seen, the Mako is harder off the spot than the Gauntlet, but the Gauntlet creates more traction in oil.

Mako is cleaner (longer) with a more defined motion off the breakpoint. The Gauntlet rolls a little earlier with a strong continuous ball motion down the lane... These compliment each other very well... The Gauntlet can handle a little more oil than the Mako due to the easy length the Mako posses.
