Wow..something inspirational happens, and time to slam bowling yet again..  I am sure it takes years of practice to get good at bowing with a wheelchair, and I say congrats to him.  Maybe it proves bowling is the everyman's sport?

More often than not your just a downright plain JACKASS. If it's so easy as you elude to let's just see you do it, I'd bet you couldn't break 100.

The thing I don't understand is your in the business, and run your own Pro Shop.

So are you saying your in a joke of an industry?

I agree with Russell, as usual. I swear some of you guys sit down to urinate and/or have sand in your panties. Great accomplishment for the Bowler, but another follie for the sport on a aggregate level.

It's another example of people that are good bowlers, trying to knock down another lesser bowler's accomplishment. It's not the same game anymore...Get over it!

I think it's an accomplishment!  Consider that most of our power should be generated with our legs... Yeah, it's an accomplishment in my book.

Didn't say bowling from a chair was easy....just saying the game is becoming a joke....a punchline....is the truth that hard to swallow?

Do I own a shop....yes....do I plan on owning it in 5 years?...no.  I plan on selling the shop the minute I graduate from college and move on to an industry that won't be completely dead in 20 years.  The shop is a means to an end for me...I love the game...but hate what it has become.

Somehow I just don't think it is a joke or punch line for this wheelchair bowler, he evidently loves bowling and isn't allowing a wheelchair to stop him from participating in bowling. Oh by the way this just happens to be the 1 and only 300 sanctioned game bowled by someone in a wheelchair and it just looks like you could give the man credit for what he did.

How about a hole in one from someone in a wheelchair and a 79 at St. Andrews in Scotland?

http://espn.go.com/espn/e60/story/_/id/6781849/tennessee-golfer-becomes-first-play-old-course-st-andrews-wheelchair (http://espn.go.com/espn/e60/story/_/id/6781849/tennessee-golfer-becomes-first-play-old-course-st-andrews-wheelchair)

It doesn't meet the 62 criteria set forth earlier but maybe this means golf's a joke now too... Or maybe both should be celebrated for the achievements they are.

79 is not even close to perfection....which can't quite be defined in golf.  Bowling has a max score...which shouldn't be attained as easily as it is today....

Russell - Dose that mean all your 300's and 800's were a JOKE?

You're misrepresenting my statement....I never said his 300 was a joke...I said that bowling was becoming a joke.  I am happy for the guy shooting 300...really I am...I just think the score is FAR to commonplace now.

To answer your question...no they aren't jokes....but NOWHERE near as meaningful as ones shot 25+ years ago.

I agree with Russell on this one, cool and congrats to the man that shot a 300 from a wheel chair. I am sure it is a very special occasion for him along with anyone else who shoots a 300. Bowling though has got some very high scores being shot all over the place with the frequency that is unheard of. I will take it one step further and add Kamron Doyle to this thread. We have a 12 year old not only competing with the top pros of the game, but winning. Granted the kid has got something special going on, but where else you gonna see that. Maybe golf, but it is usually on the womens side and they rarely make the cut against the top players in the LPGA.

Don't get me wrong, I applaud these competitors for their accomplishments, but what does that say about the overall difficulty of the sport they succeed in ?????

Golf, tennis.  Tracy Austin ring a bell?

Man, why don't you guys just quit beating up bowling so much?  It doesn't accomplish a thing in the way of change, belittles everybody that takes part in bowling, and makes you sound like narrow minded whiners.

Tracy Austin, Lexi Thompson, Paula Creamer and so on. All women and all well into their teens when winning, not 12.  I am not trying to belittle bowling or take away anything that these people have done.  The fact of the matter is, I am sitting here watching a ball game and I do not see any 12 year olds on the field or see any guys in wheelchairs.

As I said before, good for them, I have bowled with a person in a wheelchair and I have the utmost respect for him and this guy. But what does it tell the general public who knows nothing about bowling ? It may be different for all of us and if I come off as narrow minded because of my thoughts on it so be it.

There is too much of a deal here being made of a wheel chair bowler shooting 300. Congrats to the gentlemen who achieved the feat. But there is no need to get a hernia jumping up and down over it.

Strange exceptional events can happen in all sports. Heck, my lifetime golfing experience consists of a few miniature golf outings, but I came close to hitting a hole in one on a par 3 hole at the local course during an outing I was forced to participate in. I had no idea what I was really doing, but it happened. Does that prove golf is 'easy'? Hardly.

I'd venture to guess that more than 80% the people who prowl these boards have never thrown a 300, and unfortunately never will. 99% will never sniff an 800 ( the real standard of THS excellence ). Anyone who hasn't averaged 240  over the course of a whole season and uses the word "easy" should strap themselves bloody in the woodshed, but you hear it all the time.

So again, congratulations to the wheel chair bowler. Please park the whining at the door if you wish to respond.

Congrants to any one who shoots a 300. Especially to the guy in the wheel chair. Who never gave up on himself or the sport. I bet he does not complain about being in a wheel chair as much as some of you complain about the THS.

Some guys bitch the THS is to easy , then you go to the Nationals and bitch the shot is to hard and not Fair. You sound like the occupy wallstreet bunch /99%ers.
If the sport is going down hill get involved and help try and make it better. become a coach promote & our sport to the youth, that is who will save our sport for the future.  Get a well known Top coach and have a clinic in your Center, so bowlers can get better. try and get a sport league in your house to show bowlers what real bowling should be. Bowl in a sport league etc. There is a lot we can do to save and improve the sport we love.

I do practice what I preach, I am a Silver Coach, I bowl in 2 sport leagues and 2 ego booster leagues (aka THS). We have a Clinic every year with Fred Borden & Ron Hatfield, I bowl in as many tournaments as my time will allow and I do what ever I can to help promote our sport in a positive light. Get off the couch and get involved.

Sorry for the rant just my .02

WOW!! Very well said CRASH! Youth bowlers are we're the new bowlers come from-just wish the bowling centers would work on their programs instead of opening the doors and hoping they will come. You nailed it about THS and then go to nationals and bitch about being to hard. Wish they would make up their minds about what they want! As far as Sport leagues and Sport Shot Touraments there are plenty out there to make ALL the Head Cases happy! They just will not show up and support them. Now back to the real subject of this forum - Wheel Chair 300!! Are you kidding me, What a great thing! Wish I was there to see this History making event. Any one who down plays this is a jerk, idiot, moron etc.
Crash once again well said.

This thread proves bowlers aren't smart enough to think out of the box. Bowling is one of the few "sports", and I use that term loosely, that allows kids to participate. There are prodigies in every sport. They just are not physically able to compete in the NFL and NBA, because in real sports you have to have athleticism.

The guy shoots 300 in a wheel chair and gets blasted, but Matt Mcneil is placed on a throne because his 300 wasn't on a "ths". Sounds ass backwards to me.

Kudos to the guy in the wheel chair to do what will most likly never be done again and to continue do do what you love even though you lost your ability to walk.

And to Russell you sir are a tool. The bowling industry will be better when you leave the business. My shops manager just lost his leg and is going to try to continue bowling and according to you coming back and shooting 300 is tainted because its not a sport shot. But Lebron James stubs his toe comes back and he would be miamis hero.

Good for him. I've met several wheel chair bowlers in my area, and they're damn good. Some of these people are our vets (Memorial Day, anyone?). They're bowling in a non contact sport, and some of them are quite good. Just because they can't throw it 25 mph with 550rpm doesn't make them bad.

Also, I wouldn't mess with some of these dudes. I have one guy that I know that lifts himself into his full sized van by his arms. I stay on his good side lol.

As for the kids that are good at this game, I agree with TheFreeAgent. It's a sport that doesn't need for you to be a certain size. I know if this was a contact sport, I wouldn't be able to play it. (I'm a wee little thing)

One of the worst things about all the high scores in recent years is that a truly great accomplishment like this is buried in the middle of all the other 300s rolled on easy lane conditions with the help of too-powerful balls.
