First Blood - OOB polished, Medium Heavy oil... "Hybrid"
Cold Blood - OOB Clean and Sheen, Heavy oil... "Pearl"
I hope Hammer is prepared for bowlers bitching about a pearl being able to handle more oil than a solid or "hybrid"
This just underscores that "pearl", "solid", and "hybrid" are no guarantees of reaction shape or oil handling capabilities. Especially when you start changing the surface from OOB...

I was a lil confused by what they were conveying in the video..

I believe it is mid-lane performance and back end continuation with the core and coverstock vs. skid/flip with the First Blood.

Indeed... Makes me wonder what sort of motion and oil handling capability a Cold Blood would have if it rolled out of the factory at the same finish as a First Blood...

Maybe its just me, but with the way my First Blood is drilled, I feel like if I just changed the coverstock prep a bit ( sand it then hit it with clean and sheen) I could probably have the exact same ball reaction. :-\

Yeah, I was not impressed with the video. I wish for once they would put out a shot that could show what the ball could do on the condition it is made for. I dont want to see how many boards you can cross with a heavy oil ball on a house shot.
Throw some shots on the US open pattern, or better yet the Badger pattern.....
That would impress me!

But you are also forgetting the two targets audiences they are marketing for. One is you and I, the experienced bowler that may bowl on a Kegel, National, or PBA pattern...
Then there is the other target is those that bowl on a THS and nothing more, and no matter what house they are at, it is a THS shot for that house. Unfortunately, that target outnumbers the first target. So if you'd like something on a different pattern, you may want to request that of some place like K&K or another site so they can put out a video demoing that ball on that pattern.

I understand that. I would never knock the marketing cause I sure some house bowler is going to see the video and see it hooking 30+ boards and run out and buy just to see if they could do it.
What they could do, instead of showing six shots for there four or five testers. Take the last minute of the six minute video and show the skilled bowlers what the ball can do on some hard stuff.
I am so hard to please sometimes.....

Since most of the vids showed a 2-5 board difference with almost identical shape you could easily adjust surface to match the two.
Solid, pearl, and hybrid all look a lot alike if you match the actual surfaces. Say all 3 at 500, 1000, 2000 or take all three all the way up to 4000 and add polish. The difference or lack of will be eye opening.
Take one of your pearl bowling balls laying around and hit it with 1000grit and see what a difference it makes.

the First Blood was a piece of crap
hopefully this one is way better
The NBT on the ball stands for "Nothing but ten-pins"

Not meaning to hi jack this thread, and I don't own a First Blood or a Cold Blood, but from what I've seen......the First Blood was not impressive. I certainly hope they have done some serious surface prep to change overall reaction, between the two.

First blood is a beast with an awesome reaction, they dont need to change anything on it

My first blood is awesome. Hits hard and GREAT PIN CARRY!
