Title: ELITE steps up and makes a great contribution for a great cause
Post by: Seanmullins on December 12, 2013, 07:09:56 AM
Im a proshop operator under my great Friend and now colleague, Here at Fred J's Proshop at Bowl-O-Rama In Newington, CT.  Where he, and the help of many others have helped put together Newington High Schools very first Bowling Team....

Last year, was their first year competeing and we saw very little to no support from any of the major bowling companies....  That was until this year when Fred met with Mike from Elite, and Mike stepped up on his own, and decided to go above and beyond for the youth ofthis great yet somewhat suffering sport.

Without stepping on anyones toes here and going into specifics, I just would like to say from the bottom of my heart that this is a wonderful thing that Elite is doing at their very own expense for the kids of the Newington, CT high school bowling association....  When all the major bowling companies where unwilling to step up because there was no profit to gain, Mike from Elite was more than happy to hook each and every kid up with their very own reactive ball, their very own shoes, a bag, as well as embroidered towels... And like i said myself and Fred J. from His own proshop at Callahan's Bowl-o-Rama will be fitting all the students, and drilling their new Elite Z reactive balls....

Just thought that this story should get some exposure, as it seems the smaller up and coming companies are usually the ones to cater to such non-profitable events.

So heres to Mike at Elite, and Elite themselves, for looking after theyouth of our beloved sport....  THANKS GUYS

Sincerely Sean,
From Fred J's Pro Shop
Newington, CT

Sean,

This is great to hear, Elite makes a very VERY underrated product. It is nice to hear of a company helping support the future of this game.

I do, however, have an issue with the way you worded something: "When all the major bowling companies where unwilling to step up because there was no profit to gain." This is hard for me to swallow because of my business background. Being a smaller company, there is SOOOOO SOOOO SOOO much more to gain for Elite to donate equipment to these kids and help them out. Give them a ball, these kids are going to show everyone and talk about it and want more Elite stuff, more than likely. In the case of the major brands, they are established everywhere, so their equipment is known by EVERYONE already and there is no real upside for them as a business. If they do it for this school, then they look even worse when they don't do it for every school that is hurting and has bowlers without equipment.

I have tried this myself with bigger brands and the response is very similar to what I just explained. It's tough to just hand out free stuff to one school and not every single one that asks.

Again, Elite is stepping up big time in this situation and can really help themselves make a name in that area.

Let me clear a couple of things up here.  We are working with Fred and NHS to supply the kids with balls at a very discounted price.  Fred and the Callahan family at Bowl O Rama are the ones that that deserves all the credit.  He approached me about doing something with the school.  I did the best I could.  Fred is doing all the rest.

I agree.  Still a great cause to help out the kids within the community.  Regardless of any "benefits" attached to the act, stepping up to provide help and assistance to those with a need is a wonderful thing.

I remember everybody, I'm just terrible with names.

How am I doing?  4 inches of snow on Tuesday and then it was 15 degrees the last 2 nights.  My driveway looks like a bobsled run.  I'm not a fan of winter and it's not even here yet.  Other than going into hibernation, everything is good.

Congratulations on the little girl.  She's my favorite kind of kid.  Someone else's.

I bought a Tacoma and put a small plow on it.  After you become educated in the ways of rural living you learn that a tractor big enough to remove snow on a driveway the size of mine will destroy your lawn if you try to mow with it.  This way I have a winter vehicle and the Merc doesn't see snow.

Elite makes awesome products! A big shout out to Mike Moran and his team! I had two of my high school bowlers in Elite balls and they help their team to the final four at state high school competition! One girl with the Echo and one the Espionage, both drilled pin down and the Alien Abduction is a great rolling ball that people need to look into!! Thanks again Mike for all the help!
