Title: Mako
Post by: AlonzoHarris on January 08, 2017, 05:50:47 PM
Track board is pretty quite about the Mako launching. Anyone looking to add this piece or is it overshadowed by other heavy oil EBI options?

Looks like a great ball, but between the Mako, Maverick, Gauntlet, and Tyrant EBI has flooded the heavy oil market.  It's just too much at this point.

I agree.

Then there's the Cash, Pitbull, and Jackal Ghost releasing soon too. Hard to focus in on any one of those with all of them having that "new and the greatest!" stigma still attached. Out of the major ball companies I think the Storm brand in particular has the "oldest" heavy oiler in the Alpha Crux. Crazy.

Though for what it's worth the Maverick seems to be a different ball than the others. It's cleaner/longer and really strong off the back. Especially for a solid with surface. Wouldn't quite lump it in with the snow tires and wouldn't buy one if that's what you're looking for.

Dom Barret won't put the Mako down, he just loves it
And he has all those to pick from.

Saw Shannon Pluhowsky throwing the Gauntlet at Team USA trials today on livestream, what a beast

I have been patiently waiting on the Mako.  I passed on all the others waiting on this one.

So I know it's a crazy small sample size but this ball didn't look great for Dom and Mitch on USA vs The World this weekend. Could have just been the pattern or the bowler themselves but seemed over/under The Jackal Ghost looked great for Dick Allen though, held line and carried.

If you are able to Facebook or Twitter Dom, he will tell you that if all the balls he has access to, this is the 1 he is most excited about right now
What you saw on TV was a very small sample size

You're so EBI biased it's not even funny.

I have no affiliation with any brand.  When a guy who makes a living likes something and makes no excuses for why. I just repeated what I had heard from someone who knows
I have used many different brands like many of us have.  I feel like EBI has the best stuff out there for MY game

I received 2 Ghosts yesterday. I feel this ball is exactly what Motiv has been missing on the high end for about a year now. More to come as we put more games on them.

Please do report back what you think. Still on the fences with it.

I was going to say the motiv stuff and even storm/roto made the EBI stuff look bad lol. As good as Mitch was on TV recently....The mako isn't a ball I'd even look at.  And Dom isn't doing a thing with track.....All this publicity and he was better throwing the Optimus!!!!

Trying not hate here just my speculation of new equipment.... Probably was a bad match up and they HAD to throw the balls.

I finally watched the show and I don't think the Mako looked bad, I think it showed the difference between the Mako and Jackal Ghost.

Mako definitely looked more angular than the Ghost and it forced Dom and Mitch into a spot of over/under because of the strength of the cover. T

The Ghost, Chronic Paranoia, Alpha Crux, and IQ Nano were all smoother than the Mako. Quintero switched to a Code Black that was angular but the weaker cover had a much better look than the Mako

Just like Lebowski says, that's your opinion, man. They're pros.... Any ball should work well, but the mako probably is good...But how do u account for dom not really dominating anymore.

I think belmonte out of the spotlight has everything to do the newer x hole rules....

Seriously?

Dom Barrett's 4th in total PBA earnings for 2016 behind Tackett, Simonsen, and Svensson! Just because you didn't see him on every WSOB telecast does not mean he's been terrible.  Bowling is more than televised events.  Dom has done just fine with Track equipment...

Wasn't Belmo still the PoTY the first year of the no extra hole?

Yeah I don't look up the stats...I was totally assuming. My bad.

I just don't see him "winning" like he was. U knowing all the details know the actual facts. The general public doesn't, cuz he's not winning on TV. That's what I get for assuming tho haha

I drilled my Mako with a the pin 5.5" from my PAP above my ring finger. Mass bias is located 1" to the right of my thumb. My ball speed is around 16mph and med to high revs.

I rolled this beast on my house condition and I was not disappointed. With this layout I was able to use this ball for the first 2 games of league with great success.  This ball is strong and smooth. I left the factory surface and started out around 17 board at the arrows. The shape was predictable and I still had power at the pocket without sacrificing striking power.

Game 3 proved to be to dry with the other players soaking up the oil as well.

If you are looking for a strong,  solid, asymetrical ball for heavier patterns, look no further. The Mako will take no prisoners and still gives you the control you want, without sacrificing the power you need.

It's time to jump in the deep end.....and hunt like a Mako.
