I know in the past, though I was just a pre-teen in the mid 80's, friction was hard to find. Today, friction is like white on rice....
When I see video ball reviews in the medium to light or light to dry category, the reviewer seems to always say....... "stronger than expected"
And balls are getting stronger and stronger and conditions don't change.... it seems.

Because if staffers say it's weaker than expected, they might lose their contracts!!

I think that issue here is four-fold. First, companies know that most bowlers want to see hook, so even the entry-level stuff is getting stronger and stronger all of the time in order to accommodate that. Secondly, most bowlers only bowl on THS all of the time, and the THS doesn't really showcase the different potentials of a lot of bowling balls. In fact, on most THS, you can get to the pocket from near the same line using a No Rules or a Punch Out. Third, many bowlers completely misunderstand ball motion. They don't realize that most "weaker" balls store all of their energy for the backend while "strong" balls often use energy early. Pair that with a house shot without the volume to hold up the strong ball, and you'll quickly find that Punch Out hooking circles around the No Rules, and then you have bowlers complaining. Lastly, going back to the point from No. 1, since bowlers want hook, companies keep using stronger and stronger covers and cores in their top lines. Whenever a new one comes out, they move the previous high end materials down into the middle or entry level slots, which makes many of those balls stronger by nature.

I was waiting for the RG wreck-em video reviews to come out, and the first I saw last night was from tamer bowling. The one thing I didn't want to hear was "stronger than expected."
I'm not verse in the types of covers storm has produced over the years, but I do see it getting passed down like used closed to the younger child. But has storm ever used the same cover on the tropical breeze with a bigger core?

Venom Shock is strong, but as weak as I expected. Which is good, I don't need strong balls.
I never play on heavy oil. Don't play in tournaments, just the local league. And this season, most of our matchs are played at 20:00, which is damn annoying.
Because of that, the oil out there is used up pretty much, another match played before it so. And the workers there won't bother to oil it again.

For most bowlers the really aggresive stuff doesnt help even in the rare occasions when they may hit longer flatter patterns. They expect the hook monster to put them in the same out and back comfort zone they play on in league. the result is lots of washouts and 2-8-10s.

Yes. Some examples are: Agent, Thunderstrucks, Spit Fire.

The Ride (hybrid) and Joy Ride (pearl) both had the Reactor coverstock like the Tropical Breeze (and current Tropical Storm) balls. Sadly they're both discontinued now so if anybody wants one you better pounce if you can.

the match and match pearl are the current balls in storms line up with the Tropical breeze cover. great balls use them all the time on league shots. of course I loved the tropical breeze, the match pearl and the breeze make a great 1-2 for house shots if you have any kind of hand.
