Title: Arsenal Suggestions
Post by: theoldestnewby on February 16, 2017, 05:20:43 PM
My first Radical ball was the black guru...my second the reax V2 pearl (a moment of silence please).  Since introducing myself to Radical, I haven't looked back. Before I continue Radical family, I must confess for I have sinned...I wanted to see what the hype was and I threw a friend's Timeless today...gasp...after 3 shots, I was comforted by the sounds of strikes from my Ridiculous and Whack!

Now that I got that off my chest (lol)...I'm looking to put an arsenal together...strictly for tournaments (though i may get the urge to throw a few pieces during leagues here and there).  Looking at purchasing 2 balls...so here's what i have at moment:

Fix (undrilled, looking at motion hole layout)
Jackpot solid (undrilled)
Ridiculous pearl (undrilled)
--------------------------------------------------
Ridiculous (70×5×40)
Whack (pin up motion hole)
Gusto (50×5×40)

So I'm thinking top 3, a pin down xeno or maybe original jackpot/rave...and possibly a cash.  What are your thoughts?

Thank you in advance to those that offer advice!

I don't have a suggestion. Just wanted to get more details on your 3 shots with the Timeless!

Heavy:  Cash for sure
Heavy/Medium:  Ridiculous Asym / Fix
Medium:  Jackpot Solid
Medium Light:  Ridiculous Pearl

With that said look into buying a Cash and a Ridiculous Asym since you have the other stuff.  Cash will be the top of your bag.  ridiculous asym you can get right now on buddies pro shop for $79.  just a great all around ball that can fit almost anywhere in your arsenal.

If you are looking to get a Cash, then you might have to adjust the surface for something other than heavier oil patterns. The Cash is a strong ball and needs oil to react properly.

I would suggest the Rave On versus the Rave because of the hybrid coverstock.

Not knowing your speed, and rev rate, here is what I would think from strongest to weakest might look like for your arsenal:

Cash
Fix
Xeno Solid - pin down
Jackpot solid - pin down
Grease Monkey Whack
Ridiculous
Jackpot - pin down
Gusto
Ridiculous Pearl - drill similar to Ridiculous to get more length because of the cover
Rave On - pin up

Well...let's just say i couldn't find the pocket if it was sewn to my jeans lol.  My buddy didn't like the ball and wanted to sell it after one game, which is what made me want to try it. Maybe it was drilled too strong or it just didn't suit the pattern but i tried different angles and the ball just didn't respond or go thru the pins well (ball was oob surface). Picked up my Ridiculous which was sanded to 1500 and i was able to play up the boards and swing deep shots to strike. Same with whack...which is at a 4000 surface.  I guess after seeing all of the marketing videos, I was expecting to see a very dramatic move...maybe i should've thrown it 2-handed lol.

I think the Cash and a Rack Attack added to what you have would compliment everything nicely while fitting the need for a true oil ball and a ball for when the backend is flying

Tell your friend I will buy his Timeless for $50.00. I also can't find the pocket but I will just have to work to find it. It's not the ball it's the bowler and I am a two hander. I have to disagree with the ball not going threw the pins. My ball is drilled aggressive.

Go to the first link below and select the Ball & Layout Advice forum.  You will have to post your release specs, the second link below tells you what information is needed and how to obtain it.  Then the layout experts can give you layouts that fit your game.  --  JohnP
