Title: Drillin Oddity (Help!)
Post by: storm making it rain on May 18, 2017, 08:20:42 AM
Came across something I've never seen before yesterday with a customer.  Here's some details on the bowler.

1-Two finger bowler but needs the thumb hole drilled as he uses thumb for spares

2-First ball purchase (has always used hand me downs)

3-New ball is a Maverick Pearl

So I measure him up and have him throw some balls (with stuff he has) to get that data.  You can hear the ball rolling over something going down the lane, so I'm thinking full-roller initially.  Ball comes back and the track is rolling directly over the fingers but in the opposite direction. (pictures attached)  Can't say I've seen that before, any ideas from the ball drillers out there?

On edit - Pictures are tough to see, but the track is going over the pin and fingers in the picture and a straight line there after approx. 45 degrees away from the thumb

Not a ball driller but I am a two-hander. My ball also looks like that except I do not have a thumb hole. My pso tells me that a lot of no thumbers track goes threw the fingers which you have pictured. I have balls drilled all different ways and the track mark looks like that.

My guess is that the bowler is an over-rolled full roller. Mo has some stuff on bowlingchat regarding this information. I believe the bowler has negative tilt.

I had a guy whose track was an inch above his fingers.  He put his fingers in, turned his hand 90 degrees left, so basically I drilled his stuff like the ring finger was his fingers and the middle finger was his thumb.  Seen all kinds of weird stuff, but the end result is always just have to go with it.
