Title: Show Off
Post by: BallReviews-scodaddy21 on July 18, 2017, 04:12:45 PM
With the Show Off bowling ball Roto Grip set out to create a "step down" ball when the lane conditions breakdown that would provide length with down lane motion. They did this by taking the Hotshot core and wrapping it in the aggressive Micro DNA Solid Reactive coverstock and finishing it with a 2000 grip pad. Go ahead and show off a little with the Roto Grip Show Off bowling ball.

Color: Blue/Purple/Neon Green
Coverstock: Micro DNA Solid Reactive
Core: Hotshot
Finish: 2000-grit pad
Recommended Lane Condition: Medium to Heavy Oil
RG: 2.55**
Differential: 0.045**
** RG and Diff are based off of 15 lb. balls

The Show Off represents the best bang for your buck on the market.  It features the original No Rules coverstock with a new core in the Hot Shot.  Because of the cover, this ball has the most amount of traction at the price point by several boards, but because the core strength has been dialed back, it allows the ball to get further down the lane without hooking early or bleeding energy.  While the Show Off isn’t quite enough ball for the heaviest of patterns, it’s aggressive enough to cover everything from medium to heavy, and feels like a longer and stronger Haywire to me.  If you want a lot of hook for a lower price, or have a high rev rate and are looking for traction out of a ball that doesn’t roll too heavy or hook too early, the Show Off is going to be the ball you want.

This ball will be a great benchmark ball to use on a variety of patterns. The grit is at 2000 and definitely wants to read the lane early. You can see how far left I am with this mid performance ball. Also, when I shot this video it followed after we burned out the lanes with the No Rules Exist. After a few games with the Exist I dropped down to the Show Off and stood roughly the same location, board 30. This ball gave me a nice arc motion that I like to see when playing the lanes. The ball definitely goes a tad longer than the Trick if you are looking for comparison information. For those who loved the Torrent from Storm you would love the Show Off from Roto Grip. Also, for anyone looking for a benchmark ball to start the night off with this would be a great choice!

The Roto Grip Show Off is new ball in the HP2 line.  It uses a new core called the Hot Shot and is symmetrical.  Wrapped with the No Rules solid Coverstock (Micro DNA).
I drilled my Show Off 4.5 x 4 x 4 pin down no hole.  I was pretty impressed with the overall ball reaction.  Even with the 2000 factory finish I was able to get the Show Off down the lane without burning up early.  Thus having stored energy for the backend.  The motion off the friction was hard but like a hard arcing reaction.
Show off will shine on most medium conditions.  I think it is a little longer than the Haywire and has a little stronger ball motion on the backend.  But it has very controllable reaction.  A great addition to the Roto Grip line!

The Roto Grip Show Off is a truly unique bowling ball.  The Show Off has same cover as the original No Rules and the new Hotshot core, which is a high RG flippy core.  Most Roto Grip bowling balls feature strong covers and strong cores (low RG) or weaker covers and longer/flippy cores (high RG).  The Show off is special because of the core/cover combo.  For me the Show Off is very strong, but is still clean enough to produce a smooth strong continuous backend.  It’s hard to describe honestly.  It’s for oil, but it backends a bunch and you can use it later in the day too.  The Show Off is a very unique ball that has a place in everyone’s arsenal.

Short excerpt:
The Roto Grip Show Off is about traction and drive. I’m still shocked that Roto Grip put a ball like this with a new core in the HP2 line. It basically shifts the “control” strong symmetric Haywire replacement into the lower line. You could argue the Dare Devil Trick is the control symmetric and it is. In short, it would be Show Off as the strongest with most downlane motion, Haywire would be next, than the Dare Devil Trick being the most even.
Hopefully the cover will last but if you want an aggressive ball on the cheap, I can’t think of another ball this strong at this price point.

The Roto Grip Show Off is Roto Grips newest HP2 release.  The Show Off is motored by the Hot Shot core and is surrounded by the Micro DNA Solid Reactive Cover.  The ball is finished out of box at 2000 grit matte
I drilled mine with the pin above my bridge and the mass bias kicked out to my PAP with a big weight hole on my PAP.  I drilled this ball to create good mid lane read with a smoother move off the break point.  I wanted to be able to move in deeper with this ball and create a different angle than what I’m getting from other balls like the Wreck It or the older Devour.  This ball gives me that reaction plus more overall hook compared to those two.  The Show Off is real strong off the break point for its price point and has a very strong drive through the pins.
I recommend this ball as a great bench mark ball.  This is a great ball for beginners who are just learning how to hook because there is so much reaction in this ball that it will allow a new bowler a lot of growth room.

Roto Grip Show Off Ball Review by PJ Haggerty

The newest addition to the Roto Grip HP1 line is the Show Off.  It’s a symmetrical, smooth, benchmark ball that can be used on multiple conditions.  I’ve seen all types
of players use the Show Off and it plays a very important role in my bag.

I’ve drilled one Show Off so far and I love it.  It’s mapped out as: 5 x 3 with a hole on my axis.  The surface is currently at 2000 and has given me an extremely smooth and predictable motion down lane.  I’ve mostly thrown the Show Off on medium-light volume patterns and also when some of the heavier volume patterns have broken down.  The Show Off provides a bit of a quicker response time, but nothing too quick because the cover is so smooth.

All in all, if you need a smooth, symmetrical piece that is very predictable on multiple patterns, the Show Off is a great ball at an attractive price point that multiple types of players can use on multiple types of patterns.

Go drill one!

The Show Off is the newest addition to the RotoGrip HP2 line of bowling balls.  The Show Off uses the Hotshot Core that is surrounded by the legendary Micro DNA coverstock.  This combination of core and coverstock is pure strength and power.  The Show Off is a large ball at a responsible price point!

I was able to toss this monster on a typical house pattern and was pretty impressed by the power and continuation through the pins.  When comparing the Show Off to the bowling balls in the HP2 line, one word comes to mind HOOK.  The Wreck Em and Wreck It are great medium to light oil bowling balls.  The Show Off wants to see oil and when it sees dry or friction it is going to hook.  Even with my lower rev rate (around 300) and medium ball speed the Show Off still has enough power to punish the pins.  I was really pleased by how the Show Off read the mid lanes and was strong at the break point…  It was easily an arrow left with my eyes and my feet were at least 10 boards farther left (I am right-handed) than any of the other HP2 Bowling Balls.  When the lanes started to transition the Show Off did start to lose energy.  Not unexpected considering the Show Off is an early rolling ball and I set up the Show Off with my favorite layout Pin Down with a big hole.  However, with that being said I just had to throw it better and keep the projection tight.  This where the other HP2 balls are in play and thrive in the friction.

The Show Off is a great compliment to HP2 line from RotoGrip!  A BIG Ball for a Responsible Price!

Core: Hotshot
Finish: 2000
RG: 2.55
Differential: 0.045

The new HP2 release from Roto Grip is the strongest to date. The Show Off is a great combination of the Micro DNA Solid cover that was on the original no rules and a new symmetric core called the Hot Shot. The 2 in HP2 seems to stand for squared in this case rather than second tier.

The micro DNA coverstock is clean for a solid, but still has enough lane-grab to see the midlane. My first impression of the ball was how much hook you get in the price-point. My next impression was how even and readable the ball motion was. With a smoother drilling this ball makes a great benchmark.

True to the characteristic of the No Rules, the Show Off has no issues getting through the front of the lane. The Hot Shot core provides a predictable move and overall, the showoff moves plenty. On the fresh the angles have to be straighter, but the Show Off will stay in play longer than many solids and continue to provide great pin action at whatever angle you require.

Perhaps my favorite thing about this release is the forgiveness. I tested in on a high volume house-shot which is very blended. The miss room to the left was great and the overall strength of the Show Off will bring your misses to the right back as well.

Give the Show Off a try. It lives up to its name, and you'll find yourself with a new understanding of Performance.

The Show Off is a HP2 ball in the Roto Grip line. It has a symmetr core called the Hot Shot and features the coverstock from the No Rules.

This ball is super good and a must have in any bowlers bag. Featuring the cover from the No Rules, the Show Off gets a lot of hook especially for the price point. For me, this was one of the most hooking balls I've thrown and the deeper I move inside, the better the ball got.   Although the Show Off does hook a ton, it was very controllable and consistent while still providing me with some good length. Also the colors are awesome! The Show Off is a must have for any bowlers arsenal.  I've never been more in love with a ball day 1 than the Show Off.

Roto Grip Show Off
45 x 4 x 45
44ft THS on Kegel Ice oil on older HPL surface – fresh and burned THS
Surface: 2000 grit
What I like:
Comparing to the Hy-Road solid, this ball read the lane a little later then I thought it and recovered ALOT stronger then I was anticipating. The transition in the roll was really quick, it did not labor like I had with the Fight, better overall reaction and was able to create a great down look with different hand positions. If you watch my you tube video, you will see several different entries into the pocket with the ball. Very versatile ball for a mid level performance ball. I tried it on the Tower of Piza and Statue of Liberty and the ball worked really well. This is a nice step down from my Roto Grip No Rules Exist pin up, which I was missing in my current sport pattern arsenal.

I drilled up my SHOW OFF to be my go to ball when the lanes are medium length/more volume and I need some more cover than my TORRENT and my DAREDEVIL TRICK and NO RULES EXIST are too much ball. The SHOW OFF is the ball for that spot in my arsenal. Smooth and strong off the spot, it is hard sometimes to believe this is an HP 2 line ball as the performance is more high end like the NO RULES EXIST. Put one of these in your bag today.

The ShowOff is the new HP2 release from RotoGrip. The Micro DNA shell from the original NoRules is wrapped around the HotShot Symmetrical core. At first, when I heard about this release, I wasn't too sure I'd like it. Solid stuff doesn't like me very much, it tends to roll too soon and hit like a pillow...So, when I drilled my ShowOff, I slapped a basic pin up with a cg kick on it. Looking for some energy retention from the drilling, I figured I'd leave the surface box and see how she rolled. The first handful of shots were very impressive, like "this can't be an HP2 ball" impressive. I threw it on our THS that is 42 feet and as easy as it can be. I'm no big rev rate dude, but this ball made it look like I had 500 revs on the lane. I was tossing at the gutter and it was bouncing back. It still had great energy at the pin deck, considering the angle it was recovering from. During the recording of my video review, I struck the most with this ball....and I was not rolling it well that day. Since it's release, I've drilled at least 25 of these bad boys for my customers. The performance value for the price is outstanding!!! A very good release from Chris and RotoGrip! #ownit #SquadRG [/b][/b]

Speed: 18mph
Rev Rate: 450rpm
Pattern: Typical House Shot

The Roto Grip Show Off is unlike any other bowling ball we have seen. The Show Off has same cover as the original No Rules and the new Hotshot core. The Show off is unlike anything else because of the core/cover combo. The Show Off is very strong, but is still clean enough to produce a smooth strong continuous backend. It’s hard to describe honestly. It’s for oil, but it backends a bunch and you can use it later in the day too. The Show Off is a very unique ball that has a place in everyone’s arsenal.

The Show Off is the newest solid cover ball in the Roto Grip HP2 line. It has the Hotshot core with a 2.55 RG value, a .045 Diff and the Micro DNA solid coverstock. So it has a core that should respond quicker than average to friction and a fairly aggressive coverstock.

I drilled mine 4.25” from my axis with a 2.5” pin buffer and low p3 hole. Hoping this would be my go to on medium volume, medium length patterns. This ball for me rolls like a strong benchmark ball. It is smooth and predicable on the back and is not too clean on the fresh. I am surprised with how much hook the Show Off has for it’s price point.

I found the cover to be pretty strong, so unless you are speed-dominant, it probably will not find its way to the lane for light oil. But when the Dare Devil Trick or No Rules Exist are too early, this ball is PERFECT.

The Roto Grip Show Off has the original No Rules cover with a new core designed for length and down lane motion. I think that this is quite an interesting combination with the potential to possibly be the strongest ball ever made at this price point.  Historically, I have absolutely loved the HP2 line, but there is nothing about this ball’s motion in the midlane and back part of the lane that says HP2 line. On a fresh 43 foot typical house pattern it is definitely straighter than my No Rules Exist, but as the lanes break down and angles get a little too extreme for my Exist to maintain optimal entry angle, this ball shines. My Show Off’s layout is 3.75 x 5.75 x 1.875 and is still at box (2000).

The Roto Grip Showoff was much stronger than expected for an HP2 line ball. Its a perfect benchmark ball for anyone regular league bowler. I was really impressed with the way the ball read the front part of the lane and then with the motion and energy it stored on the backend. Its strong enough that on heavier oil patterns you can square up and get it to the pocket but also smooth enough that on dryer conditions you can move in and go around it and it doesn't roll out. If your looking for a smooth with aggressive back end motion ball this is the perfect fit.

I am a left handed and a Storm/Roto Grip Regional Staffer. I throw the ball around 15-17mph.  The first Show Off I drilled I put the pin above the Ring Finger and the CG is stacked.  The surface I kept the same as out of the box which is 2000 grit.  The Show Off has the Original No Rules Cover with a new Hotshot Core which is designed for Length and Back End Reaction.  I will tell you that this ball is special and is more bang for the buck.  If you want a ball that is strong and you don't want to spend $200.00, then this ball is all that you need.  This ball is great on THS, and Medium to Heavy oil pattern.  Roto Grip has mastered this line as more ball for the price you are paying. The HP2 line has produced a lot of Fantastic balls and The Show Off is another one.  I compare the Show Off with the Haywire and the Show off is cleaner in the Midlane and more Back end then the Haywire.  The first game I threw the Show Off was a 300.  The Show Off to me is a really strong ball that I can use on multiple lane patterns and I can manipulate my hand position with this ball when the lane changes and I can still use this ball.  This ball is a must for anyone and it does not matter how you throw the ball. So get to your Local Pro shop and purchase a Show Off. You will not be disappointed. #showoff #ownit
