Title: Brunswick Magnitude 035 vs IQ tour solid
Post by: LuckyLefty on November 26, 2017, 09:38:30 AM
So I've heard it said that the Magnitude 035 is Brunswicks IQ tour solid!

Now I know that is a big statement. Of course I usually don't find statements like the next Walmart, the next Jack Nicklaus or the like that believable. Of course I have to admit that there is Tiger Woods.

One ball recently I thought Brunswick looked real good on was The Brunswick Brute Strength versus the Iq tour fusion which to a lefty looked like a real jumpy coverstock almost unusable on OUR fresh except for the up the back high speed lefty.

Thoughts on the Magnitude vs IQ Tour Solid. The videos look similar. I note the Magnitude slightly higher RG and diff.

Your thoughts?

My thoughts......try as they may, there will never be another IQ Tour.

Another lefty interested in opinions on the 035.  Do other leftys find that balls listed as good control, sport shot type balls end up being great for THS on the left?  Thanks!

Without question ^^;  As storm finally learned to leave the Hyroad ALONE!!!!  Some balls simply cannot be duplicated or replaced.

Todvan...great comments!

I wonder if When I say a fresh shot and a righty says a "fresh" shot are we talking about anything the same?

On the discussion of the Magnitude 35 by some Storm fans...are there any details they can point to regarding the difference in the movement between the Iq tour solid and the Magnitude. 035?

Thanks all..

My father who owns and throws both, said the reaction is close with the Magnitude 035 having a little more backend than the IQ.  He said the IQ was more mid lane vice the Magnitude 035.

I did not like my first IQ Tour Solid drilled pin down for THS.  However, the second IQ Tour Solid drilled pin up has been a money maker on THS.

I generally prefer equipment that is skid flip for THS.  However, there are some nights or houses where the back ends jump too much and the IQ Tour Solid is the ball to use.  And with that said, given the IQ Tour Solid's smooth motion, I feel it needs to be drilled with an aggressive layout (smaller VAL angle) to get it to carry on THS.  Even with the aggressive layout, it does not overreact but will not lope down the lane.

Yeah my IQ tour is starting to grow on me.  Glad I went pin down on it instead of my max leverage layout as that ball is my safety blanket for unknown conditions.

A friend of mine just drilled the 035. I'll ask him how two compare.

I have several friends who own the IQ Tour, and they love it.  Although I cannot throw the IQ Tour, after watching about 30 of them over the past couple years I'd say both balls are VERY close for reaction, with the .035 maybe being slightly stronger, but extremely close in my estimation.

This is the type of reaction serious bowlers should want due to it's versatility on everything except bone dry and heavy oil.  It's great on anything in between.

As a middle-aged, left-handed tweeter, I have had the opportunity to throw both the Storm IQ Tour and the Brunswick Magnitude .035.  I am currently on Brunswick staff and have been for 2 years.

There are a lot of similarities between the two balls.
Both are very smooth, even arcing, bowling balls. Layouts were similar with both balls.
So, the shape is similar but what I like most about the Magnitude .035 is that it picks up just a bit sooner than the IQ Tour when I used to throw it.

I have also thrown the Magnitude .055 and I'm seeing that ball very similar to what the videos on the Brunswick website say about giving about 3-4 more boards of hook down lane.

I agree that no one will ever make another ball like the IQ Tour but can say, that the Magnitude is the closest I have seen to it and am glad that it is in my bag.

Jneral300,

What drill did you have on both if you would share, thanks!
