What's going on in here? Did you all think I was gonna let this subforum die??
If you thought yes, then you're wrong!
Peeps, Bowl Expo is right around the corner. We know about the Global pieces. Now what do you want to see from AMF come late June?
-
RE-TRO!
-
RE-TRO!
But there is so much to retro! What do YOU want to see? Cores? Coverstocks? Remakes?
-
Green Mamba, The Codes. Anything with the SRC core..
-
Bring back the AMFORCE series, balls 1 through 4. They may have seemed gimmicky, but they were awesome pieces!

I still have a NIB Green Mamba and Hybrid. #dirty
-
I agree with the Green Mamba! Just my $.02, Bruce

When talking about my NIBs, they are on my list of "Nope, not gonna buy them from me"

Why are they still making equipment is the question.

Isnt the question are they actually going to make something new? It's a shame actually because the Ninja SE seemed pretty good with both releases of it. I wonder if they've tried selling the brand at all

That would be so amazing and awesome.
-
Rumor has it that the AMF brand is going to be doing vintage releases only. So many good balls over the years.
-
RPM series please.
-
A buddy of mine has 6 honor scores with an 878 with the Great Escape. AMF makes some sleepers. Ninja SE & SE Pearl are great. Everything with Nighthawk core rolls well,

I still haven't put holes in my Stealth. I guess I need to. Can't decide between that and my Freight Train lol
-
Am I the only one who did not like the Green Mamba??? Mine is drilled double thumb and might have 6 games total. It is sitting in my closet. Pretty ball though!
I think it glows in the dark sometimes!

That core was strong. Sounds like you drilled it too strong. My Bank drilled 60*5*40 was strong enough.

So true.

I wasn't trying to find it but did find a new SE release that is coming. I don't know anything outside of the name and it's black

How about a little Sumo SE action?
Straight from Buddies
AMF Sumo SE Bowling Ball
Color: Black Solid
Coverstock: F80 Solid
Weight Block: Sumo Symmetric
Factory Finish: 1500 Polished
Flare Potential: 5" +
Radius of Gyration (RG): 16lbs - 2.47; 15lbs - 2.49; 14lbs - 2.51
Differential (Diff): 16lbs - 0.050; 15lbs - 0.050; 14lbs - 0.050
Intermediate Differential (Diff): N/A
Looks like the Darkness core makes it's return!
-
I'm all in. That's going to sit well above my badger, which is much stronger than the numbers indicate. Darkness was one of my favorites for the month I threw it. Then I moved and left it in the garage for 4 months and it cracked. This ball should be a home run.

Nice. Wish it had the original Sumo core though as that core hits so well for me even in non reactive balls. Still looks like a solid oiler even if polished (coverstock of the Great Escape with core of Darkness).

This was the original core in the black and purple sumos though wasn't it? Not even sure if it would be legal or whatever today in new balls. Then again the modern core they are using is probably much better with a modern reactive coverstock.

There was no better ball out of the box reaction than the original nighthawk. Perfect core, cover combination. Ball hooked, stored energy, and continued through the deck with the oob surface. Loved that ball, but we’re talkin 20 years ago.

That's pretty!

It's really sad what 900 Global has done to the once proud and popular AMF brand. It's even more sad that Qubica-AMF let's this go on. If all AMF is going to be is a retro brand, shut it down. Throwing AMF fans a bone 2 or 3 times a year is an insult.

I was waiting for this post to happen.

I use to roll a lot of AMF equipment for years! Some of my friends use to tease me about what AMF stood for, but I didn't care when I was scoring better than most. I'm not to worried about the core being from 900 Global, cause they still roll great no matter the name on the ball! I really liked the Angle Evolution, Menace line and of course the Radar line! Thanks to ID for opening my eyes again to the 900 Global stuff and I drilled a Honey Badger last week and bought a Dream On! Just my $.02, Bruce

Bruce,
You have 2 killer pieces there! The Sumo core and the radar core are verrrrrry similar.

does amf use 900 global covers?

Yes.

Remake of the white XS ball would be cool.
-
My only 800 came with the King Cobra Remake and that was an 854. I have never even come close since with any other ball. I loved AMF stuff and would love to see the Clutch line make another appearance. The Velocity line was another good line as well as the Radar line. Bring them back and I'll buy them.

Well they missed their Chance to be cool and sell some balls.
White quantum is coming.
There is a sumo coming... looked good but not as good as an XS coulda. Oh well..

Most of the “Big Boys†used to use a smaller, subsidiary brand for R & D purposes. Over time, due to marketing philosophies, that is what turned AMF ball division into what it is today.
There hasn’t been a “true†AMF ball in well over a decade now. All the way back to the original Bullwhip (or maybe even further), Ebonite poured their stuff then. After that, it seems like it might’ve been under the Columbia300 roof at one time (maybe why they have the 300 in their name still?).They’ve been an “also ran†brand for a long time now.
Not that they weren’t good though, I used them exclusively for several years, simply because you didn’t see anyone else throwing them. I still have my CODE and my blue pearl HYPE. And my old 16lb urethane COBRA from the 90’s is in the closet, along with my flamingo pink BOOGIE. :D

King Cobra was absolutely awesome. As far as the other lines, the Clutch weightblock is in the Honey Badger, and the Radar weightblock is in the Sumo SE.

Alright Doom, you said you wouldn't let this die. SO, what going on with AMF? Come on spill it!
-
What's going on is 900 Global doesn't care about the AMF brand and apparently Qubica-AMF, the brand's true owners, don't care either. When all you get are re-releases, you know the brand is dead. I used to be all AMF for over 30 years. Now I'm all Motiv for the past 3 years.

You heard it first here Doom, AMF is confirmed dead.

They may have something coming down the pipe, but as far as I know, Sumo SE is the only release we get so far.

Ah yes, confirmed indeed. I didn't get my email. :(
-
AMF pre-reactive stuff was awesome. Can still use it today on house shot remarkably well. Sad to see another brand die.
-
I still have the Angle Evolution Tour! It vaguely resembles the Jackal Rising in hook shape. Lots of angularity for a high load particle and relatively clean through the heads as long as you have good oil coverage!
-
You know, just for this, I'm going to do an AMF video. I'm ordering a Sumo, and have a Green Mamba, Mamba Hybrid, Clutch Pearl, NightHawk Stealth, a plugged Ninja SE, and a Bull Whip SE (that I'm actually gifting to someone, so no holes for me in that one)
What should I put holes in, friends?

I'm sure I do because I have a Gmail account, but nothing posted... Ever. Gonna focus on getting a decent camera and doing it right because that's the kind of person I am. Maybe do layout and drilling videos too.

Alright, but they're not getting laid out the same! Even with the new weight rules, I don't think I could pull off a 3-3/4*20 on the SE. Maybe if they still have some.in the warehouse I could pull something off.
-
They're due for a ball, dang...
-
It’s sad that AMF never really released the Heist Pearl. Best ball I ever owned. I cleaned up in league with that ball. The low RG core revved up really strong but the weaker cover meant smoothness on the back end. I always wonder what the equivalent cover stock would be today because this is before AMF/900G used numerical ratings.

I agree, that ball was definitely a hidden gem! I can't give you an equivelent on cover for what i currently in the line. I might suggest an After Dark Pearl. The core really revs up midlane and the weaker cover gives it a very similar shape of the Heist Pearl and just jump off the dry. I don't think you could go wrong with the comparison on these 2 balls.

You know I’ve been drooling over that ball but I suspect it overlaps with something else in my bag.
The unique thing about the Heist Pearl IMO was the low RG/high diff core (2.46/0.049) wrapped under that mild cover. I know uSBC studies showing the influence of surface prep on a ball, but that particular combination OOB was very unique. Certainly a much stronger core than the ADP. For a lower revs/speed bowler like myself it was money!

......:) (http://tnaant.ru/)

OK,
Take the core from the Sideways, invert it, put the hybrid cover from the Respect on it, color it turquoise and silver, and name it something cool like.....
Wait for it...........
THE JUGGERNAUT
I’d probably buy one. Or two. Cases. ;D ::)
All kidding aside though, A.M.F. used to make some good stuff. The CODE I had was one of the best all around balls I ever had.
Times change though, and like everything in life, all things come to an end. Seems like they just didn’t stand a chance once they became the property of big bowling companies as a secondary brand.

Not gonna lie I'd probably but that

Those cores are real similar... I know what core shape you like!!

Also liked the “jug†core from the nighthawk series. Good stuff there too.

A little thing I whipped up a few years back.
Just change the coverstock strength and VOILA!
