Hmm, interesting line, but suspicious as all heck. The hook was indeed more, but the balls weren't even close to the same shot. He's right that sanded balls are typically smoother than everyone thinks, but that's due to the variables of each person's use (pressure, time, etc., not the pad... Right?

I watched the Lane Side Reviews video on these pads and I think the main benefit is durability. It seems they don't clog up easily and hold their intended grit longer. Easier to clean off as well. I'm right there with the bashing on a lot of their other products, but it seems like these could be worth it. I plan to order some soon. I do a lot of my sanding by hand. Anything else I give to my PSO to do. He doesn't charge me for it since we're friends/teammates and I spend a lot there on other stuff (balls, especially). He's on vacation right now, but I'm going to have him look into these for his shop as well.

And this is why I ask such things!

CTD's price for a 10 or 20 pack is quite reasonable ($2.65 each for 10, $2.49 each for 20). The single pad price is high; I'd guess CTD probably just doesn't want to fill single pad orders. Many other online vendors have a similar pricing structure for single vs, multiple pads.

Yes, as pointed out, they are not a new invention. They are a rebranding of a Joest (Jost) product. Abralon and Siaair originally licensed their products from Joest.

The construction seems to be a cutting fiber mesh over a thin sponge base. There seems to be a distinct space for the material to collect below the cutting fibers. I believe this to be the main advantage. Also, I prefer this 5-inch size because it fits my hand block better (minimal creasing.)

I find them to cut quite nicely. For hand finishing (dry) they are especially nice.

To clean after using dry, just slap on a table edge a few times, rotating the pad. You can, of course, clean these wet as well.

I recently purchased a 10-pack and just started using them, so I cannot speak to their longevity. First impressions: I'd say I will order these again, instead of Abralon pads.

I  have no affiliation with CTD.

Maybe he should call them Hook Pads.Sell a combo deal with Hook Juice.

To be fair to CTD, their pricing of the TruCut Pads is the same as Abralonpads.com.

CTD is in a trick bag starting in 2019 when we can only use dry towels during competition. All of their liquid cleaning products are geared toward in-game use.

Several months ago, a rep for Jost sent me several "new" pads to test for feedback. They look just like the CTD pads discussed here. I liked the weave of the pads, and they were much easier to keep gunk out for subsequent use. The cut was more aggressive than what you'd get from Abralon/Siaair pads. My first impression was WOW.

The problem was they seemed to wear very quickly. The first three uses of the 500 grit were great. Even with minimal pressure, I'd have to wash out the debris after each 20 second side pass. Starting with the fourth ball use, I'd start seeing huge degradation in debris captured. By the sixth use, I wasn't seeing anything sticking to the pad. Long story short, I lost confidence in their use after 3 applications. Conversely, I get about 6 good uses from a Siaair pad.

Maybe they took that feedback and made some adjustments. To be fair, maybe this is a completely different product. I'll order a 10-pack from Abralonpads.com (great seller) and give them another chance.

Sia isn't bad, but I still say dry cuts better than wet, and using pads more frequently doesn't bother me... What's a few bucks compared to everything else we spend in this sport? I ordered a single 500 pad to test, arriving tomorrow... Will report back next week. The biggest problem I have with CDT is Ron Hickland. The man just doesn't have any creds with me after his Hook Juice silliness.

You guys do realize that these are NOT a Creating The Difference exclusive no matter how much Ron Hickland wants you to believe. You can get them at Abralon.net (http://www.abralon.net/Category/15-trucut-5-inch-bowling-pads.aspx).

I bought mine from there and I like them.

Yes, understood. It's a matter of whether the product is redesigned, if it cuts closer to true grit at all, and how durable it is, all weighed against Hickland hype, which gives it two strikes to start off with.

Anyone's that's tried them. For dry sanding by hand versus abralon or other brands, how do they stack up?

I ordered a 1000 and 2000 pad and just got them in the mail today actually feels like the 2000 pad is rougher than the 1000 so we'll see.

Wanted to give an update to this topic. I bought a single 500 grit pad to test. I'm not a Hickland fan, understand it's a Jost pad, and in the interest of full disclosure I freely admit I like dry sanding better than wet and I still insist you get a different result.
Having said all that. Wow. All those worried about resin dust be careful on this one. I've never seen so much dust in the air after using it. The pad does feel different, and I'm definitely impressed with the cut, at least at 500. I have no idea on durability, but if I can even get three uses of this for a bulk price pad, I'll be using them. Our sport league was 48 feet and although I think it wasn't consistent this week, I could see a difference in my Sure Lock between last week and this.

More to come and would like to hear form others, but first impression is positive so far....

I brought this back for another update. I stand by the first update. For the first cut, I've never seen anything cut this well. For the second ball, it lost a bit. For the third ball, it lost even more. Not sure about durability, but doesn't feel like it. I don't care what Hickland or Lane Side Reviews says, you can't just knock the dust off, either. I'm throwing the BS flag on that, at least in my test. NOt sure I'd spend even bulk price for 1-2 really good cuts... My sport league is 36 and 33 for the next 4 weeks, so won't be doing much more testing until league.......
Just FYI. I'd like to hear other thoughts?

Thanks for the update. So what would you recommend over these for adjusting surface by hand?
