Title: Comfortable/Best shoes
Post by: justink on July 12, 2018, 11:35:58 AM
I know this is a little open ended, but I just finally ripped through my Dynorooz... So I am thinking about getting the 3G Tour Ultra, but have seen lots of new shoes out from Dexter, Hammer, Storm, Brunswick, etc... So who has tried different shoes and can share their experiences/opinions?
Thanks

I love my Dexter T.H.E. 9. Very comfortable. I never think about them again at bowling once I put them on.

I've read some negative reviews about the 9s durability and I really don't have money to buy new shoes every other year. Definitely looking for something like my Dynorooz that last a long time. How long have you had the 9s and how are they holding up?

Love the Dexter 9. <grey and red mesh>  Most comfortable shoe I've put on in 10 years.

I'd love to recommend the SST9s, but between a few of my buddies and I having our shoes crack all the way across multiple times, I cannot. They are super comfortable, but just do not hold up.

Tour Ultras have always been super comfortable and quite durable, pretty hard to beat.

If you liked the DynaRoos, the 3G's are almost the same shoe.

I picked up the (then new) Team Brunswick shoes a year ago and on the plus side, they are very comfortable. Compared to my Dexter 5's and 6's they are a bit more snug but they are soft and hold their shape very well. In addition, the leather heel and #8 sole are far superior to anything I had from Dexter (apart from my old old old Dexter 5 #8 sole). On the downside, they have had some durability issues with the glued areas - the thin leather toe strip on my slide shoe separated from my shoe, and the toe on my plant shoe also separated from the tip of the shoe. Neither of these were deal breaking issues as I simply gorilla glued them back together. I don't know if that will last long but if so then it is simply a minor issue in an otherwise good shoe.

I'll have had my 9s for 3 years effective next month. That's conservatively 1500-2000 games over the period. The shoes still look great. I've experienced no cracks of any kind. Actually, the 9s were specifically designed to correct the sole crack problems that infected the SST8s. The bottom line is that the 9s are probably the best balance between comfort, support and durability on the market.

The issue I have with the 9s is the outrageous cost of replacing soles. It's annoying, but overall the benefits of the shoes are worth it, at least for me.

Out of everything ive sold and put on my feet, the most comfortable are the Hammer Force's. They are very durable for all cases except for when you are a toedragger. The Boss's are supposed to solve that issue and ill have those as well soon. I have the 9's HT which are the grey/red/black and they are rather comfortable as well and good for wide footed ppl like myself and stand up to toe dragging. So far have stood up to some rigorous use and still look like they came out of the box. The White 9's I have I have yet to wear in competition but are comfortable as well. They will crease across the toe but im not worried about them at all as far as them cracking.

I'm a shoe whore lol but I believe that you need multiple pairs of shoes to cut down on wear and stink, as well as preserve the shoe. Think about how many times you put that shoe on every month..... the days of just straight leather are over. My opinion, 9's H.T. if you want a shoe that lasts forever and youre a toe dragger, youre going to spend some money on them but theyre worth it. Forces or Bosses if you want specifically designed comfort.

I really like my team brunswick shoes. Very comfortable, soft and light. Plus all the slides and heels you get with them at the price are very good.

Thinking of trying the KR Raptors at the price under $100. I love my SST8's but they are going on 3 seasons now and want something new.

Not to thread hi-jack, as it might help the OP out a bit too in their decision.  Could y'all elaborate on the interchangeable pads systems on these shoes as far as staying on and quality?

In my opinion 3G Tour Ultras are the best.  I have not tried Dexters.  But 3Gs are the best.  IMO
