The ball I drilled out had a 2" pin with 2.25 top weight. I did a simple pin twist to 1:00 and drilled with 1/2 side and 1/2 finger. The desired reaction was achieved.
A nice smooth roll thru the heads with a controlled breakpoint and more power at the pins than I had anticipated. An excellent ball for fresh backends or the wet/dry bumper bowling shot many houses have out there.
A pretty good ball but there are better out there.

The Purple Pearl is very versatile on medium to heavy oil, and it has become my benchmark ball. It revs up nicely, rolls clean, and hits hard. I can play the deep middle or ride the channel, and I can adjust accordingly.
This winner has become my "Great Lakes Phenomena". I finished fourth in a twelve-game marathon tournament at Harbor Freeway Lanes in Port Clinton, OH last January, rolling an opening series of 772 (256-279-237) and winning $175 in the process. On May 24, 2002 I rolled a perfect game in practice while doing a little glow bowling at the same house!
This ball has its ancestors as well, namely the Rhino Pro LE and the LT-48 series. The two-piecers have done well for me in 2002, and the Purple Pearl is my Number One!

It used to be brilliant on medium to heavy oil conditions, but since then, it has deteriorated, and suits medium to dry oil conditions.
Since then i have used it in many tournaments and shot a 289, a 299, and a 286 with it (not in the same 3 game set i add with disappointment). Over the past year, the reaction the ball is having, is starting to weaken, and beginning to die...but if anyone is looking for a wicked ball, that isn't too expensive either, i would definitely suggest this
