To start off I would like to thank Chuck at lane 1 for the help he gave me in choosing a layout for this ball.

After drilling it up I took it over to a house next to the pro shop which is notorious for being dry and being a new ball I was really unsure where to start with it I knew from talking to a couple of lane 1 ball testers it was going to be stronger than advertised so I elected to play the lanes with that in mind started out with right foot on 25 throwing to 15 at arrows and 10-8 at break point the first shot hooked off of my hand and went broklyn all the way left of the seven pin after talking to a house employ found out the lanes had not been oiled all day for that matter in a couple of days so I knew they were really dry next shot I moved from 25 to 40 on approach moved my line to 20 at arrows and 10-8 at break point the ball still went broklyn but I was on the head pin so I moved three more boards left standing on 43 on approach and kept the line the same on lane hit pocket but the ball was really hard to get a good read on for me I felt like it was burning up and the hit just was not there so I finished up and went over to another house in the area found it to be to dry for this ball also but I did bowl three games there like I said this ball for me was really hard to get a good read on,on dry lanes.
my second outing with this ball was a little different It was on my thursday night mens league the shot we get there is 41 feet of oil vary heavy on the heads Gutter to Gutter tappering down in the mids 10-10 with a lighter oil pattern and squeaky clean backends I have no idea how many units of oil
on this shot this ball really shined.
Normaly on this shot I start with a BCB or Pearl U and then as the shot starts to breakdown I switch to my TSU but I elected to start with the Cobalt I was really unsure where to even start with it as my first outing I could not really get a good read on the ball. I started out in league practice standing on 20 on approach and targeting 10 at arrows and 7-6 at break point the ball hit high but it was on the right side of the pins left an easy spare to cover but I knew I was close with my shot. being as how this is a five man team league we only take 1 shot and give the next shot to the person waiting in practice the next shot I moved 1/2 board left and and kept my line the same started flushing the pocket got three more practice shots all flush pocket strikes with this being two five man teams on one pair I had it in the back of my mind my reaction was going to change the funny thing is it really never did this ball completly ignored the heavy heads and read the mids better than any ball I have ever used when it hit the backend this ball makes a big move and seems to always find its way back to the pocket no matter how far out I got it the bad part its not real forgiving if you tugg it left it will make you pay
started out in league play, (after practice shots) playing same line
started out with a 212 followed up with a 256 and finished up with a 245 for a 713 series never had to switch balls all night long in three games with it i ended up making a hole total of another 1/2 board move left in the three games in league. the hit of this ball is nothing short of awesome I feel. as long as you have some kind of oil but if they are dry put it away its way more aggresive than Lane 1 addvertised for me its a great heavy medium to medium ball for those of you wanting to use this ball on dry shots put a mild layout on it when you drill it up

I threw the ball right out of the box at a tournament that was oiled 35 feet and buffed to 38. Oiled from 8 to 8 and tapered to the gutters so there was some out of bounds.
Mind you I hadn't even practiced with this ball whatsoever, truly out of the box. I stood at 26 with my feet and aimed at 14 board and looped it out to the 5 board and the Cobalt flipped very strong to the pocket. This ball is stronger than advertised for sure and it rolls sweet. The core/cover combo makes for a skid/flip reaction but not where it's jerky and uncontrollable. So OOB first time I shoot 209, 201 and 254.
The carry of this ball is what really stood out as well, keeps pins low and sends messengers flying. Another good thing that I noticed is that if you tug the ball somewhat it'll still hold it's line pretty well and not go flying left, that's not the case from what I've seen with the smoking and intense inferno or the backyard bully.
Lane 1 has created one of their best balls in the Cobalt Bomb hands down, I think it is much better and will become what the pearl dirty bomb was supposed to be.

Pin under ring, CG stacked directly underneath with X hole. This drilling promotes a strong backend, but with pin under you won't get too much length and squirt through the breakpoint.

Surface was OOB
Synthetic Lanes, 36 ft. buffed to 44 ft. , Medium oil in middle tapers out to gutters light/almost dry.
Have used this ball twice now in subbing on a league, and WOW !!!! Ball is much stronger then what Lane 1 has advertised.
Does not have a flip for me but a very HARD STRONG arc.
In subbing the 2 weeks I have yet to leave a ten pin, most of the time (unless operator error) hardly any pins are left on the deck, pins are kept low and the hit and carry are unbelievable, Light, Heavy or Brooklyn hit !!! This was using the outside shot.
Very foregiving ball, go too far outside and the ball seems to make it back to the pocket, pull the ball and it just sits and then that hard move to the pocket !!!
Also tried on lanes the next morning after two leagues, lanes were dryer with a little spotty backends; used more speed, moved left (right handed), and the shot was still there. Tried the deeper inside shot, and with slowing the ball speed and my feet carry was OK but not as pronounced with the outside shot, did leave a couple of ten pins with this shot.
Over all I think this ball will be great for Medium to dryer lanes, or a typical house shot (THS).

thought it was going to fit between my cherry bomb and bullet but really because of the backend of the ball overhooks the cherry. Really it fits between my black cherry and my cherry. When the backends get extrem it reacts hard and leaves splits so be careful on the way u get it drilled. It is one amazing ball and fun to watch and has to be one of the best looking balls ever. Typical lane 1 hit and carry but can come at extreme anges in dry and leave major splits.

this ball flares a bunch and is not as weak as I thought. I used it in the Nationals in singles and shot 635 on fresh oil. This ball reads the midlane well with this pattern and plays a house shot (the house I bowl at) better than any ball I have owned to date.

I just want to let you know my comments about this ball... this is my 2nd Lane1 ball (the Hybrid Dirty Bomb was the 1st one, not impresive at all)

In fresh (house) conditions this ball OOB finish goes too long with a strong arc (no flip), once the lanes starts to dry out this ball gives me good reaction and good control.. in a month I'll be playing in a more demanding conditions.. I'll post a comment after.

Power-tweener, 15-16mph, RH. 205 average.
At first I didn't like this ball for anything but light carry-down, but after it got some oil in it, I love it.
Had a hard time keeping this ball right of the head-pin on fresh league shots unless I crossed a lot of boards. Had a very violent arc past the breakpoint which were leaving me with unmakable splits. Wouldn't recover well from an OOB area at the time either. Didn't score well on heavy carry-down, but that's expected.
After about 9-12 games, it got broken in so-to-speak, and it is very controllable. Until my Tsunami gets the same break-in period (it also over-reacts on the back end's, but with a smoother arc), it's my benchmark ball.
Last night in league (THS, guardian) I was able to swing it from the 18 board to the 3 (unintentionally), and it would snap back and kill the pocket. Similarly, on a proper release, it would go 18 to 10 and hit just the same. It also reads and holds the mid-lane really well, such as lightly tugged shots.
In the last shot of the 2nd game, I decided to move 10 boards right (middle dot) and throw a test shot down-and-in on the 10, and it left a weak 10 pin, where I took some hand out of it. Too touchy of a line to play, as subsequent attempts in the next game came in high to over-correction, so I moved back. I was still impressed, as my initial assumption before doing something that drastic was it would hook way too early and miss the head pin left. Scored fairly well considering I have a nasty cold that left me feeling rubbery with only Advil to keep the body aches at bay
212, 186, 204. Cobalt did most of the work.Great ball.
