After lengthy discussion on layouts. I decided to go with 4 1/2 x 3.

I am LH and have a soft handed release with good revs and medium speed.

Ball Specs

Top 3 oz
Pin 3"

Layout

pin under ring cg kicked out left

lanes
AMF synthetics THS 40 ft. Unfortunately the area in which I bowl in has no oil. I would have to drive at least 30 minutes to try this ball on real oil. So THS will have to do.

I knew this ball would cover a ton of ground on this shot but it even surprised me. It hooks a ton on the backend. I threw it side by side with my original box Cherry Bomb Pearl just to see since everyone wanted to know and yes it outhooks the mother of all L1 backend balls. So if you need an out of box backend monster this is for you.

For me I need polish and alot. I took it up to 4000 abralon shined to glass. The ball was awesome now for the shot I was bowling on. Had surprising length with great midlane read and the backend was extremely strong. This is might be the best ball I have ever thrown, and I have thrown tons. The drilling was the perfect match for what I needed for this area that I bowl in. I end up sliding about 25 and getting it out to about 5-7 and this ball never quits hitting. You want the magic ball this is it. It has midlane read, revs easy off the hand, but still has great length and backend. It kinda reminded me of a cherry bomb pearl but much better midlane read, and more backend.

There will be some huge scores with this ball in no time now that they are released to the public.

178 shipped will get you one let me know if interested

ok on to the meat and potatoes. I laid this ball out with a 4.5 x 4.5 layout (with some discussion with my ball rep) We wanted to maximize the fingers so I laid this out with a pin buffer of 3.5" (my span is 5" cut to cut, this resulted in the pin up 5/8" above my finger and slightly right of ring, the cg ended up 1/2" off of my grip center line on my horizontal grip center line. I could sit and tell you I laid it out with mo's dual angle or any other sort of drilling system, but bottom line is pin above and cg almost in grip center. no balance hole was needed. Fingers ended up at 15/16 oz with approx 1/2 oz of side (this was by design)

First trip out to the lanes I left the ball in box condition took my tsunami, and cherry c/2 and supernova xp for comparisons. out of the box the buzzbomber is shorter then my xp but much more angular, once the move started it went and it went hard (this was a typical 15-10 type shot. pulled out the c/2 to get a feel for in deep (bench mark for me inside) moving way left targeting 22 at the arrows and 8 at the break, the c/2 labored a touch, still made the hole and carried but was light. same line with the BBR and it was a touch earlier (maybe 1 foot) and proceeded to go thru the nose. I thought this is exactly what I had been looking for. so off to the shop I go, took ball up to 1500 wet sand then hit it ever so lightly with the sauce and back out. threw the tsunami over same line looked pretty decent threw the c/2 again and got that semi light shot. now took the BBR back out with its new shine to it and hit 22 at the arrows 8 at the break. flush all ten, same shot again flush all ten, proceeded to throw 6 in a row over this line. moved deeper yet with my target, hit 25 to the 10 and the ball looked even better. played with hand position a bit, stayed deep but only took it out to the 15 and looked very very good (read long pattern ball) moved over went straight up the back playing 7 out to the 3 and ball looked good there too.

I see a ton of potential for this ball, it compliments the solid version so well, takes to surface changes and hand changes like one would want.

I had asked the comparison of Doug Sterner about this ball to the Cherry bomb pearl. It does that, in fact this ball I have may indeed turn harder then anything I have in my bag. (my cherry c/2 as many have seen is a beast on the back end) this ball is slightly stronger, plus more forgiving it'll get down the lane and make a hard hard charge for the pocket.

This is the ball that has been missing from the lane #1 line up, big heavy core with a strong pearl cover that does indeed get down the lane. the last three balls from lane #1 would make an entire arsenal for someone, throw in plastic and you got it all covered, Teal, buzzbomb/r and the buzzbomb solid

I know I can hear everyone know, "oh but he sells lane #1 stuff, and this is all just hype to sell balls" well yes and no. do I want you to buy one, sure I do, but flat out this is the best ball I have thrown from the boys in syracuse since the XP (and that is only cause I threw 2 300's with that one this year) this ball ranks right up there with all the past gems I have had and this will be the one that finally lets me retire that pink cherry C/2

BALL SPECS
Pin Length - 3 - 3.5
Starting Top Weight - 3.5
Ball Weight - 15 after drilling
Ending Statics - About 1/4 oz top and 1/2 oz pos side (after putting an x hole on my PAP)

DRILL PATTERN - The same as my BuzzBOMB Solid, except no X hole needed with the Solid BB. Stacked with the pin over the ring finger about an inch and barely right, with CG straight down.
Pin to PAP - 5 1/4 approx
CG to PAP - 4 3/4 approx
X Hole (if needed) - On PAP
MB Location - n/a
This was drilled at about a 60* MB angle using the implied MB drawing a line through the Pin and CG

BOWLER STYLE
Rev Rate - 400
Ball Speed - 17
PAP/Track - 5 1/4 by 3/8

SURFACE PREPARATION
Grit - I tried it at 4k abralon with The Sauce and at 1k abralon with no polish
Type (Matte, Polish, Sanded) - Tried it matte and highly polished

LANE CONDITION
Length - 40
Volume - light
Type (Wall, Xmas Tree, Sport) - 40 ft lightly crowned low volume pattern. Freshly resurfaced lanes that have not settled down yet.

BALL REACTION - 4k abralon, polished
Length - Easy length to 45 feet. Goes longer than my BB solid.
Back End - Very strong if you allow the ball to roll to the edge of the top hat and cling until the end of the pattern. Then it just revs like crazy and comes in hard
Overall Hook - Moderate to high
Midlane Read - Very good if you roll the ball, but you can't just push it out there like the BB Solid.
Breakpoint Shape - Very hard arc toward the pocket and the arc gets sharper as it gets closer to the pocket

BALL REACTION - 1k abralon, no polish
Length - Still gets easy length with this surface prep to 38 feet
Back End - Smoother and stronger and earlier than when I polished it up
Overall Hook - High
Midlane Read - Good midlane read and if you want to, you can push it instead of roll it with this surface.
Breakpoint Shape - Strong and smooth and confident

COMMENTS
I liked it at the 1k abralon and no polish surface the best to fit into my arsenal. When the BuzzBOMB Solid is out of control, the BuzzBOMB/R lets you go back to what was working in the previous game. Even though it is a bit tamer than the BB Solid, it is still stronger than my benchmark ball.

Carry - The carry turns heads
Likes - Hit and read. Knowing I can pull it out without hesitation and move back to where I was with the BuzzBOMB Solid at the beginning of the night.
Dislikes - I wouldn't use it on a dry shot. No problem, that's why I have an arsenal. I would just go to my G-Force Evolution.

Ball started off 15lbs. 4ozs. with 3.25oz. top and 4" pin. It is drilled 4.5 X 3.5, which puts the pin 1" above ring, small x-hole required, ended up with 3/8 finger, 3/4top, 5/8side. This ball starts up earlier than all my other pearls except maybe my Black widow pearl, but it is much stronger through the midlane and the backend. For me this ball is not skid/flip, it has a very strong move but not flippy like my AZO pro tactics. Carry is fantastic! if I do my part! I have tried this ball @ 2000ab and as you would guess it starts up a little earlier than oob, and covers even more boards, and handles more oil. Right now I have it at 1000ab + the Secret Sauce and it gets good length and a very strong backend as you might expect. Overall a very strong pearl that handles surface changes well and is good for med/med heavy oil(at least for me), and I would highly recommend one to anyone, my full roller team mate and my cranker buddy both loved this ball and vowed to purchase one too, and of course strokers like me will love it!

Specs in my profile:

Ball Specs:
15lb 4 oz
2 3/4 top
1-2 pin

Balled drilled by BeansProShop.  I left it with the box finish.  He told me ball is drilled 4 1/2 x 4(Have no idea what it means).  Without a weight  hole.  The Buzzbomb/R is a awesome ball it reads lanes well and crushes the pins.  I'm averaging 227 for my 1st 18 games with the ball.  The pearl helps it push thru the heads and the energy and core push it thru the back.  This was my 1st Lane #1 Ball and it will not be my last.  If you debating on this one its a no brainer 10 out of 10.  You will not be disappointed.  Had 297 with the 2nd night used and have thrown 10x's in 2 other games.  I'm getting people at my center who doesn't sale Lane # 1 products looking at buying Lane  #1 Products.  Watch out there will be more F.O.S. members in the near future!!!!!!!!

I drilled this ball and the dynamo I loved the dynamo but was truely disappointed with the Buzz Bomb R.  This ball went very long and never hooked with it's factory finished.  I took it down to 500 like the agent orange and boy what a difference it made.  I love a lot of backen and I thought this ball would have plenty but even when sanded it was more of a nice sharp arc.  I also think that this ball has no room for error its touchy.

Your best bet is to try for yourself, some people love it and some people hate it.

The ball: 15 pounds, 2-inch pin
The drill: 3x3 stacked, no weight hole. Surface is box.
Me: PAP 4 over 3/8 up, tweener revs, good speed, prefer to play with high axis rotation (75+ degrees), not much tilt, but can adjust either as needed.

---

Having skipped the original BuzzBomb (I didn't figure I would be able to use it much given that I rarely see heavy oil), I decided to test this ball instead. I had not thrown a ball with Lane #1's new Doomsday core yet.

I picked this ball up used off a member here and, since we had identical specs, I elected not to plug and redrill the ball. I would not have picked a 3x3 stacked drilling for myself had I drilled the ball from NIB. But I'm glad I decided to stick with it.

I tested this ball alongside Lane #1's Supernova XP, also a pearl from the post-Brunswick and Columbia eras. The XP comes in matte finish and I had mine at 2000 plus polish. The BuzzBomb/R comes with a very traditional, deep pearl polished shine, so I figured it would be longer than the XP.

That was not the case. Whereas the XP is long and very angular at the breakpoint, this ball likes to roll earlier and make a more definitive read of the midlane. It brings to mind Lane #1's old Diamond core toward the end of Lane #1's association with Brunswick. The move this ball makes is much like my Tsunami H20, although this ball is a little longer and cleaner through the fronts.

The best part of the BuzzBomb/R is its strength through the move. It is reminiscent of the great Storm X-Factor -- a pearl that offers enough length to get to the breakpoint, with enough predictability and strength once there that it isn't prone to over-under.

Looking for negatives with this ball has been tough. I've drilled about 15 balls for myself from multiple companies over the last 6 months and this one is probably the best of the batch. If there's a negative, it's that very dry lanes or very short patterns could give this ball trouble. A lot of that is also probably a function of the 3x3 drilling. A longer pin-to-PAP and CG-to-PAP distance would probably give you the pure length you need.

In summary,

The good: Controls the midlane, offers enough length in the front to clear the heads, very predictable off the spot.

The bad: Even highly polished it's not for dry lanes, not as angular as some people want to see from their pearls.

Overall: The best pearl ball I've drilled for myself in a couple of years, and a perfect medium-range ball that would make a good benchmark piece even though it's a pearl.

First off, Id like to say what a smooth rolling ball this is to be a pearl. I have mine laid out with the pin above the middle finger and the cg close to palm. I left it at box finish. What I got was a very unique type of roll.

When everything else is to strong in the back, or perhaps starting to check up a little to early, this ball is the go to ball... On a typical short house condition, this thing is incredible. The only bad part is that you cant bring this ball out in just any occasion. I may not throw this ball but once a month, but when I do.... You can bet it that its going to bail me out if the lanes get to dry. I would give this ball a solid 9. Some people maybe disappointed for this ball I think was intended on being a little stronger than it actually is. With a pin down layout, this ball would really roll even and true.

People just have to realize to hang on to pieces like this even when they may work only like 10% of the time. Its those time where no other balls will perform.             John Davis

SEE MY PROFILE FOR MY BOWLER SPECS AND CLICK ON THE LINK FOR PICS OF THE BUZZBOMB/R AND OTHER BALLS IN MY ARSENAL.

15 lb. buzzbomb/r

drill pattern is 5X5, ends up pin over bridge with the cg in the palm.

lane condition: ths, 40 ft. in length, definite out of bounds past 5, high friction backends.

got this ball from a good friend of mine about a month or so ago, and after toying with it i finally decided to write a review. the ball comes 1000 grit polished, and honestly i struggled with it for a few weeks trying to make the oob surface work. finally last week i took it to 2000 grit abralon and hit it with a coat of valentino's snake oil. wow what a difference. the oob surface caused the ball to read friction way to early for me, especially when i tried to play tighter lines. after stepping it up to 2000 and the snake oil, the ball reads really well. of course with the drill pattern i am getting good length, but what i really like is how the core of this ball starts up, i get a good mid lane read and a nasty backend reaction. this is one of those balls that when the conditions are there you can really wheel the whole lane if you want to. overall i think it will cover med hvy oil if you have decent hand, all the way to med dry. just keep it away from extreme oil and dry and you will be fine. i also think it would work for most styles, strokers will like the length combined with the easy revving core, tweeners will like the backend pop once they dry down, and the crankers will like the controlld power to open up the lanes from deep. as far as carry, id have to give it a 9, really havent had carry issues with it. as far as coverstock tuning, the bleeder cover really takes polish nicely, and so far i havent had any loss of reaction so id give it a 10 on this. overall for the condtions its intended for i have no complaints about it, i would easily rank this ball one of my top 3 pearls of all time and thats saying something cause my other two are the storm blue thunder and the storm paradigm.

Purchased this ball 3 weeks ago on bowling ball .com for under 100 bucks.  Thought I would try a new company and the price was right.  i am not sure what I have for a drilling as I drop it off to the driller and say, do what is best for me.  There is a weight hole and the pin is in the middle finger hole.  I use it at three different houses, the fist is old synthetics.  i have shot two 690,s and a 680 since i purchase average is 211 there.  The second house I have a 210 average newer synthetics and I have shot two 660 and a 690.  The third house is all wood i average 225 there.  I have shot a 690 and a 670 followed by a 760 237 244 279.  Two splits only opens and a solid 7 pin in the third game.  This ball roles nicely on all conditions.  it will rev up early if you need it to or it can go long if needed.  It absolutely hits like a monster.

COMMENTS

Well I just recieved this ball today the fourth from saw head and another that looked like it was brand new. Threw the ball on my typical house shot its about medium oil but very squeaky clean backends. The ball really amazed me how easy it was to get threw the early and mid parts of the lane. The ball seems like more oil would definatly plague this ball so will have to update if I ever bowl on a heavier oiled pattern but any ways. The ball is decivingly long alot of times I was wondering if the ball was going to recover and yet it always did I found because of the late reaction 10 pins where a bit more stubborn. The ball is a cross between skid snap and skid arc and seems to recover well to arrant shots. Overall I believe this ball will be nice for med to med dry conditions and fit nicely in my bag. Like my pther lane one balls this ball hits hard and also first nite out it was good for a 369 dollar strike pot so It definatly paid for itself. Well hope the review was helpful and had enough detail. Thanks for reading Ecco

Likes: Hit, carry, ball motion, ease to get ball to push down lane.

Dislikes: with that ease to push it is like a double edge sward the 10 pin likes to hang around.
