This ball does exactly what it is designed to do. On dry or fried conditions, it has a very smooth arc to the pocket to manage those over/under situations. The beauty of this ball is it's obvious dual purpose for those that enjoy throwing plastic at spares. My very first set out of box was a very consistent 705 which speaks well for the hitting power when used under the right conditions. Very nice addition to any bowlers bag.

Whenever we read the obscene stories, the voluptuous debaucheries, the cruel and tortuous executions, the unrelenting vindictiveness with which more than half the Bible is filled, it would be more consistent that we call it the word of a demon than the word of God. It is a history of wickedness that has served to corrupt and brutalize humankind; and, for my part, I sincerely detest it, as I detest everything that is cruel.

Tested this ball on a fresh house shot after drilling (basically a label drill) and it went so smooth down the lane. First shot hit light and left the 5 pin. A couple more shots that went a little flush left 10 pins (which the XXXL converted easily). One flush shot almost left a 10 pin but the 6 tripped it. I can see this having carry issues but on a pattern that dictates it, it may be the best option for that.

Absolutely love this ball. It's one of the best looking balls (plastic or resin) in my humble opinion.

The ball: 15 pounds, 3.3 oz top weight prior to drilling, 1.5-inch pin
The drill: Pin under the bridge, CG directly below, no weight hole. Box finish.
Me: PAP 4 over 3/8 up, tweener revs, good speed, high axis rotation and low tilt

---

Bought this ball to shoot 10-pins and play the outside when my home bowling center dries out late in a shift (which is at least 3 out of every 4 weeks). I've got some urethane stuff but even they were moving too much.

The Starburst certainly seems willing to help. It comes not just polished, but glassy. This is the slickest ball I've held in years. It even feels a few degrees slicker than White Dots and Target Zones, although that's probably an illusion created by the shock of picking up something with "Lane #1" on the side and it not feel like a reactive ball.

My test bed for this ball was league the last three weeks. For two of those three weeks, all I did was shoot 10s and 6s with this ball. It easily handles that task, even when the lanes are pretty dry.

But I recently got the chance to throw it as a strike ball, and I was astounded at its performance characteristics. This ball revs nicely and gets into an extremely heavy roll. It is super-smooth on the lanes and pretty much ignores the surface. The weight block seems to nicely set up a heavy roll and the ball carries better than any other plastic ball I've ever thrown. Carry rivals any urethane piece in my arsenal and even some entry-level reactive balls.

It begs the question of why other companies don't wrap a decent core inside a plastic shell and sell it. A summary follows:

The good: Goes straight when you want it to, ideal for truly burned-up lanes, core technology gives it an edge over other plastic equipment when used as a strike ball.

The bad: Not much as long as you don't expect it to go sideways.

The verdict: You want plastic, buy this. That way you'll have something more than a 10-pin seeker.

I have my Starburst XXXL layed out 3 3/8 X 3, with a 1 1/2" pin buffer. This puts the pin above and to the right of the ring finger. No X-hole needed.
This ball easily fills two spaces in my bag. Spare ball, and truly dry lane wonder! Everyone's dry is different. I don't know how it is where you bowl, but they get fried here, sometimes. And, they don't start with much conditioner to begin with. Also, the proprietors in this area like to cater to bowlers that need help hooking the ball or like to see more hook. So, sometimes this leads to a hard wall where it is very dry outside and reactives will over/under often.
This is where the Starburst XXXL shines! You can play closer to, or IN the burn(something you can't do with anything but plastic). It gets through the heads easily and has a predictable, arcing, midlane and backend. Having a real core makes it hit better and create a little more mistake room than other pancake cored balls. Being plastic, it doesn't like carry down. Depending on your amount of hand and ball speed, you can actually use it on up to medium conditions. Used on the proper condition, it is one GREAT ball!

Not much to say about this ball...it works fine as a spare ball, a little better than my red XXXL was because it seems straighter in my hands (could be sample variation). On dry lanes you can play in the middle and get dynamic core carry when people are lofting weak reactives over the gutter cap. There is no other ball on the market that compares if this is what you need. And unlike previous versions of this ball, it looks good too.
