Stealth Bomber pearl
« on: May 28, 2017, 08:43:46 AM »
Just got this ball...Never had a Lane 1 ball, nobody in my area uses them either. I'm getting drilled on Tuesday. The question I have is...What is this balls strengths? I like to have balls balls drilled for what the ball is intended to do. I dont buy a strong ball and drill it weak etc....I looked at a lot of sites and cant find much info... Lane 1's site said "85% of the hook is in the backend"...But it also says that for the Stealth Bomber...

+1 Lane #1 has some very underrated stuff, yet very sneaky strong.

I had one and drilled it pin over bridge and I added some polish.  The reaction I got was very smooth, its movement was gradual.  Sometimes I would question if the ball was even reacting because the movement was so smooth and slow.  I wish I had a video of me throwing it to show the reaction.

So this ball is a smooth pearl? My angular pearl is the Grudge Pearl...I also have the Green Quantum and Dark Legend. My hope for this ball is a first ball out of the bag with a strong arc. I think the layout will be 45x4x40...My Grudge pearl which is very angular is 55x41/2x30.

My suggestion is to keep its OOB surface and adjust it based on how it reacts.  For the few that bought them in my local area, we all put polish on them.  I wasn't using mine as a benchmark ball though, it was a step down for when the lanes started to dry out (I don't have a lot of hand).

Yes very smooth that's why I compared it to the guru limited not skid/flippy but a strong arc, its very clean upfront don't underestimate it because it's smooth it's still very strong, it does come 4000 so I would try it first it be nice ball go to when grudge pearl is to much

Yep for being a 5 year old piece the Stealth Bomber solid sure matches up well with a lot of recently released oilers.  Only have the solid but my feeling is the pearl will match up with THS much better.  Love my SB solid and how it hits but like most oilers very situational and sadly not a ball you will usually be able to use more than a game or two before the transition takes it out of play.  In retrospect still pretty happy with the purchase but if had to do over I would have bought the limited edition instead which length wise sits between the solid and pearl but is closer to the solid (hybrid actually) in strength.

I got the SBP drilled 55X4X30...used it in a fresh 42 foot house shot. This ball is STRONG. Once it turns the corner it rolls very heavy and crushes the pins. The reason I got this ball is because I always wanted to try a Lane 1. Even though this ball is few years since its release, it still rolls and hits like it was released yesterday.
Newer isnt always better. I think this ball is as good, if not better then any ball released today.

Don't get me wrong I love my Bomber too but imho such a strong asymmetric core for me at least will tend to fill a niche in my arsenal instead of being the work horse ball I pull out first.  Like I said the pearl though is more versatile and yes both are very strong which at least the conditions I encounter means it mostly sits in my closet (for me balls usually don't hook because they are burning up not because of heavy or long oil).  The cover stock is also fairly easy to ding especially compared to the CFI cover stocks on my hammers (3 year warranty baby) and since more than likely you soon won't be able to buy new Lane #1 balls to replace it tends to be more a tournament piece or sport pattern go to at least for me. If you can use the pearl where you usually roll, well then right on double bonus.  The solid at least for my style really needs oil and house shots don't tend to have much in my area.  My kingdom for kegel high street.

I wanted it to hook a little earlier so I hit it with a used 2000 pad....Now its burning up and hitting the pocket weak. I'm gonna try 1000 then a decent amount of polish and see what I get...

i just moved up to 16lb and was able to get the Stealth bomber pearl, CrankR pearl and the Dart for really cheap. Drilled it up on a friday night for a tournament on saturday morning. 9 games (team doubles and singles). I shoot 675, 660 and 666. Started off bad but  finished team with a 300 game with the CrankR pearl. I love my Lane1 equipment. Wish they come back and put more stuff out!

Yeah really enjoy my SB solid when I can find enough oil.  Not really optimistic about their future (but sure would love a Panther or Maxx Curve NIB).  As far as smaller specialty makers Visionary looks like they might be around for awhile and they still actually sell a particle pearl ball (Raven).  Got their Crow urethane and like it a lot.  There are others like Pyramid, Monster etc but thats who I know.
