The new Uranium Buzzsaw features our new RadioActiveTM cover stock. This new material is clean thru the front, and Atomic on the backend. We also changed our isotope in our patented diamond core, using the densest material allowed by the ABC. The super dense, center heavy, Uranium Buzzsaw diamond core lowers the RG from a 2.53 to a 2.45, while raising the differential from a .028 to the midrange of .043. Combined with our new RadioActiveTM cover stock, this ball glides thru the drier fronts, while sticking to the lane in the oily middles. The Uranium Buzzsaw is the ball that does it all..!!

Bought from Drillwizard for a song ($174.00 shipped!)
Specs:
16lbs
3-4" pin
2.3 oz top
Drilled stacked with pin even with ring (RH) about 1" out, cg in line below
Small weight hole
Box finish
(The idea was to get the ball to start up a bit sooner than my Cherry Bomb and to finish a touch harder)

Have put about 6 games on the ball to date, so it's a bit early to know everything there is to know, but this is what I've found thus far:

It's another great pearl buzzsaw. The ball is squeaky clean through the heads before making providing a smooth, strong breakpoint with a continuous arc and monster hit. I think that crankers and strokers alike will be able to tailor this ball to be whatever they want it to be. The Uranium is receptive to different hand positions and rev rates. I've already seen that I can stand deep and turn the hell out of her, or stand right and play up the wood with less hand, and she reacts strong and clean either way. Add all of these factors to the fact that it's a great looking ball, and you've got another winner from Lane 1. If you want a benchmark ball, this one is what you're looking for. Another great job by Lane 1. 9 out of 10.

Drilled up my uranium monday night and threw it after league.  Took a game or two to get used to it and then threw a nine bagger--not bad.  Ball specs are 3-4 inch pin and 3.x oz top weight (don't remember exactly).  The pin is above the ring finger (4 and 3/4 from PAP) and it's a 60 degree drill.  This thing reminds me a lot of my X Factor (pin above the bridge, 45 degree), only I think it's going to be more versatile because of the weaker drill.  I like switching to more forward roll and playing 'em tighter as the lanes get ugly and sometimes that X doesn't quite pull it off.  I also drilled one for a kid that is on our local junior traveling team and his first set with it was a 732.  HIs words "even if you throw that ball wrong it hits like a train".  I'd have to agree.

15 lbs.
3-4" pin
3.2 oz topweight
drilled 4X4

My initial impressions are very similar to Lane1lefty. This ball does very well in light to medium oil. Looks for all the world like it will skid right by the pocket and, just when you've about given up on it, smashes hard left NOW.  Really clears the deck.  In heavy oil, the turn is just a tad too late and light.  You can compensate by backing off the speed a bit and let it read the oil for the same predictable, devastating results. Very impressed with this ball so far, and sure I will come to like it more and more as I continue to learn its nature.

I would like to start out by saying that this ball works well for me. I believe that these reviews can be helpful in some ways, but everyone must understand that they are only hints as to what the ball MAY do for you. We all have our own style and not every ball works well with everyone. I have a medium speed and medium revs and throw on a house shot(xmas tree pattern), so I am already being helped out by the oil pattern. I can swing the ball from about 20 to 5 or 6, and have no trouble getting it back. It clears the heads well, starts to roll in the mids, and comes pretty hard on the back.  I have bowled on a heavier condition that was gutter to gutter, 40 ft., and had to move alot to the right to use it. It still worked good, but went further before getting into a good roll. Because of the heavier oil, the ball didn't have the strong backend, and left quite a few ten pins. However, I have been bowling for 35 years, and am accustomed to balls reacting this way, so no big deal.

I drilled this ball up for myself.  I put the pin below my middle finger and the CG on my grip line. No weight hole needed.

I have used this on several conditions.  On our standard house shot, freshly oiled, I am able to swing the ball from 3rd arrow to the gutter and get the ball back without a problem .  This ball corners like the old Purple X-Calibur did in its day.

On a 32 foot flat sport pattern, this ball was too much ball for the condition.

Bowlers that like skid/flip reactions will be in love with this ball.

I didn't try taking the shine off the ball because I never liked pearl balls dull. I am sure that if I took a scote brite pad over the ball it would smooth out the reaction, but that would defeat the purpose of the ball.

Any questions, please email me.

drilled today....pin above fingers so it will go longer for me......3 rough practice games just to get a feel for the ball......then bowled league tonite and shot 686......I was throwing straight up 8-5 medium speed and man did this ball CARRY. The head pin was flying everywhere, the first 2 games I carried every frame that I threw the ball and didnt baby it, which I sometimes do when trying to keep my speed down.  226-269.....the 269 was stone 9 pin in the first then the next 7, and they were explosions...my first ball in the 10th was another bomb and the 7 pin stood up and bit me...mu 269 lost the pot to a 279, he first one would have given it to me.....I got tired in the third game, the ally opened up a little and I was able to swing a little more, 10 to 5 with more speed, but I ran out of gas....all in all I cant wait to throw this ball sat. in my city tourny.....

This is an email message I sent to Lane 1 and am waiting for a response.
I set my 14 LB Uranium up with a full leverage layout which has proven to be most excellent on fresh patterns with good back ends, and second shift carry down.  Heavy oil or burnt heads are this balls worst enemies as the energy will expend to quickly with no head oil, and slide to far on flatter heavy oil, but on most all house league patterns this ball is off the charts.

Ball rolls absolutely fantastic with total control and very defined strong move off the higher friction areas, and the hit is ultra impressive.

I don’t know how they did it, but in my opinion this is one of the best balls they have ever made.

My question is about the new Uranium Buzzsaw. This ball is absolutely the
best ball I have ever rolled, and I have used all your saws, but this one
just out performs them all hands down.

My question is why? What is it about the Uranium that separates itself from
the pack, how is it able to deliver such a powerful punch and defined turn
with such precision?

Honestly how long will this ball hold up before losing its edge, 30, 40, 50
games or more?
Next year I will be on tour in the PBA, my name is Mike Anoles from
Springfield, Ohio and I have operated pro shops and been in and around
bowling for well over 30 years, and I also feel very responsible for
introducing Lane 1 balls into this area.

Please elaborate as much as possible, I am completely sold on this ball and
my recommendation has sold 30 plus of these in this past week.

Also please do not quit making this ball. My one and only 300 game was due
to talent and the pro purple, I came close on several other occasions with
the XL.

I plan on buying at least a dozen Uranium's in the future but I would need
some feed back from you on the above questions before laying out that much
money,

You can read all my reviews at ballreviews.com or bowlingballreviews.com, I
am known as Plane Facts on both sites.

As you can tell I am very excited and pumped about the new Uranium and need
as much information and feed back as I can get.

Respectfully,

Michael Anoles

If you drill up 1 ball this year, make it this 1.  Lane #1 has outdone themselves with what in my opinion is the best ball they released EVER.  The Super dense weight block igves this ball a backend unlike anything I hace ever seen.  Straight from the Drill, I throw 267 and 278 with no warm ups, All hits were Flush, and by the end, I had about 3 - 4 people asking about the ball.  In league I throw it the first game, and came out with front 9.  If the extra $20 - $30 will break you, than save up  I drilled it just off the pin with a small weight hole to get it to start up a lil bit earlier.

I have waited for this long to post my review because I have been waiting to find a time and place where this ball has not worked for me...well, I have given up the search.

The only situation where I cannot get this ball to function is on heavy oil with lots of carrydown.

Ball info....

Specs:
15-3 gross, 3-1/2" pin, 3.7 top weight

Drill pattern: 5-1/2 x 3-1/2, small weighthole on PAP (11/16 x2")
This drilling puts the pin over my bridge and the cg out about 2" from my centerline. Ending weights were 3/4 side, 1/2 finger and 1-1/4 top.

Let me first say that I love this drill pattern. I have used it before and liked the ball everytime but this one is exceptional.

The ball clears the heads with ease, picks up a roll at 30 feet and charges hard into the pocket. When I am in the pocket, nothing stands. I have left VERY few corners with this ball and the 8 and 9 carry very well too.

The backend reaction is strong but continuous. It is not a super snappy backend like a Cranberry backend but more like an overly strong Blueberry.

I clean this ball on the spinner with Black Magic Plus green label after every use and the ball is like new after 50-75 games. I see no signs of tracking at all.

I think this is perhaps the best Buzzsaw I have used since the Emerald Pearl. I am going to get another one and drill it a bit differently to get a different look and see if I can trim my "arsenal" down a bit.

Try one of these balls if you have been thinking about Lane 1. Best of all, give me a call and I'll hook you up with a great deal on one.

I am not a Lane 1 guy by any means.  I always had the same opinion about Lane ! as anything else.  If someone starts beating me with the ball and I know I have more game than them, then I take a serious look.  In the case of the Uranium, I watched three different people with relatively weak end over end release make this ball look like a total hit monster.  I had trouble finding one at first, and had to settle for a 4 inch top and 3.5 in pin.  We layed it out more or less as a stack with the pin just above and right of the ring finger ( about 4 inch to PAP ) and the cg straight out about 3/4 inch.  I had them drill all the holes real deep to get as much top out as possible, but it still had 2.5 oz.

Lets get one thing out of the way first.  I don't care what they call it, this ball definitely has some version of Brunswicks activator cover.  No way it is powerkoil.  On the lanes it is a heavy rolling, high reving ball that almost reminds me of my Ultimate Inferno with a heavy shine.  Very unique roll, it almost looks like somebody else threw the ball when my eye picks it up coming out of the heads.

The uranium really likes to be rolled.  Unlike my orange Inferno that almost invites me to try a multitude of hand positions to maintain carry, the uranium doesn't respond well to my particular brand of suitcase release.  However, with the push the polished pearl shell gets through the heads, and the heavy mid lane roll, I don't find myself as much in need of trying to tweak my release to get carry.  The uranium will open up a lane wider for my lower rev end over end release than any ball I have seen.

Contrary to the Lane 1 advocates there are conditions where you don't carry with the uranium.  The biggest weakness of this ball, is that it looks so good rolling you don't put it away when the carry goes.  Last night on a late shift at about 4th arrow I followed a 257 with a 193 where I never got a double in 8 frames.

In summary I would put this in the must try category, even at the price, for strokers who like to roll the ball.

Drill Specs:
Pin & C.G.: stacked 5/8in. right of center line with pin
1/2in. above ring finger.
Weights: 1/2 positive & 1/2 finger.
Top Weight: ?
Overall Ball Weight after drilling: 15lbs 1 ounce.

Let me start with a little info. I'm right handed my average ball speed is around 20-21 mph. I have a high rev rate and I carry a 220 plus average in 3 leagues in 3 different houses. One house is loaded with oil another is a
solid med. oil condition and the last is light to med. with no hold room left of 12. The only house I have not been able to use this ball in is the house with no hold left of 12. I have to stand so deep on the lane that every time the ball crosses the middle it checks up just a pinch to early. Now I have tried other balls in this house, pearls and solids with surfaces ranging from 1000 grit up to 3000 and so far this ball gets farther through the lane than any other I've tried. In the med. oil house I get deep throw the ball right and just sit back and watch as this balls recovery and hitting power just absolutely amazes me. Most balls that hook this much for me use up to much energy in the front part of the lane that by the time it gets within the last 5 feet of the pins the ball will roll out, but not this ball it just keeps going. Now the last house is different than the other 2 because it has OIL. This year this house has so much oil that if I miss in by more than a couple boards the ball will go almost dead straight. I couldn't tell you how many times this year I've missed in and been left with wash outs ( more than I care to admit), but not with this ball it was getting back to the hole with enough drive that it was throwing pins everywhere, and when I missed right it didn't over hook. So far I have thrown this ball in each house for 2 weeks. I have also bowled a 12 game tournament that I used it all day in. Combined 2 weeks league 2 houses 12 game tournament with this ball I'm averaging just over 240.
With those numbers what more can I say about this ball that it hasn't already said it's self.

I just placed an order for an XXL that I'm hoping to be able to use in the house with no hold left of 12.

Predrill Specs:
15 lbs 4 oz 3+TW 3-4" Pin.

Post-Drill Specs:
15 lbs 5 oz (It gained weight!!!) JK
Pin to PAP: 5" (Above and to the right of ring finger).
CG to PAP: 4-5" (Just 1/2" from centerline and on the midline.)
Flare: 2-3" (AWESOME)
Box Condition.

The first Lane #1 ball I owned was the Cherry Dud (Bomb), which was sold two weeks later.  The Uranium reminds me alot of the Cherry Dud, but has more length (better pin position) and less flare.  The Uranimum is still very aggressive.  Uranium does not go down as much as I would like, but it will work.  Excellente carry and power!  First tweleve balls, all strikes!!!  The Uranium needs some oil to avoid rolling out.  I thought that the pin position would really help the ball get down the lane, but the core properties (RG) take over the pin to PAP influences.

Overall, a very good ball.  Probably a little too strong to be considered a benchmark ball.  I would highly recommend length drillings, i.e. Pin above Bridge, Label with finger weight, etc. as the core/coverstock are both aggressive.  I give it a 9/10.  I have a few left I am looking to sell for $205 with shipping included.

I've got about 30 games on the uranium and I think I can give it a fair review at this time.  Ball is drilled 5 x 5 with no weight hole.  CG in in center of grip shifted about 1" to the side.  Ball has a 4" pin, so pin is a little right and a lot above the ring finger.

On my fresh league shot the ball performs excellent laying the ball down around 20 and out to 10 at the (late!!) breakpoint.  Ball turns the corner very nice and is playable for all three games.  Excellent carry.  I average around 200 and have had most of my series with the uranium in the 650 - 670 range.

On my late league I can't use the ball until the last game because the ladies league bowls before us and a barrage of plastic ball have pushed all of the oil to the backends.  With the exceptional length that I get with this ball the carrydown is too much as I often come in behind the headpin and leave 10 pins and buckets.  I can play the rope up 2nd arrow with it, but it does not carry well for me.  But when a track gets dried up, watch out.  I bring the ball out and play 30 out to about 12 and carry everything in sight.

Overall great ball and the first one out of my bag when the conditions are right

Info: 3" pin 16lbs.  drilled: pin out side of ring finger c.g. towards palm. simple label.    There is nothing simple about this ball. Great length and superb backend. This ball is nothing short of one of the best LANE #1 has to offer. on heavy oil you need something with a softer surface. Make sure that you keep this bad boy polished with the way it hooks. On a scale of 1:10 i give this one a 9, it is OFF THE CHAIN...>>>>>>>>>>>THERE IS ONLY LANE #1.
