Short review. Got it around to Month's ago, drilled pin-up for Max lenght & recovery. This ball is amazing, the recovery off the dry is unmatched, if this ball even smells the pocket your striking! If you have some hand there's no volume of oil that can slow this thing down. This is a must have ball for the 200+ club.

Just got ball drilled-up today, December 18, 2009. First of all, let me thank Tony Martin of Lane Masters for sending me the ball. Ball came 15-0, 3 TW and 3" pin, ball is laid-out 50* x 3 3/8" x 35* which placed the pin about 2 0'clock from RF and a small WH placed 1" down from VAL/Centerline. Ball was left in box condition for it's initial test.

I used the ball for the first time in league tonight. Let me point out that I usually don't throw a ball in sanctioned competition immediately after drilling it, but this ball fit perfectly after drilling. Usually I have to work on the thumb for a bit, but I've recently been experiencing some thumb swelling issues so we drilled the thumb 2 drill sizes larger and just added a full piece of tape.

Out of box, 1st game threw front 8, then a solid 4 pin for 279, then got a little sloppy in game 2 and wound up shooting 211 while missing an easy spare in the 6 pin. Game 3 got head removed from rear-end and proceeded to shot 259 for a pretty good series of 749. Not bad for something that was not routine for me, hopefully it's not just "New Ball-itis."

The Xtreme Damage reminds me of my pin-down drilled Black Diamond, in which the ball is very aggressive in the back end and just obliterates the pins. The drilling allows the ball to easily clear the heads but it can easily be seen starting to rev-up in the midlane just waiting to be unleashed on the dry backends. The ball had excellent recovery when missing right(yes, it did happen a couple of times tonight), but wasn't as forgiving when I missed a little inside. Let me also state, the good scores may be attributed to the pair of lanes I was bowling on. Lanes 3 and 4 in my house in recent weeks has been the high scoring pair, evident by my own 300/768 series a couple of weeks ago with a Black Pearl Reactive and preceded by a friends 804 just the week before that. I personally average 255+ on that pair after 6 games bowled on that pair for both leagues I bowl there(12 games total).

In my opinion, another awesome piece from Lane Masters!

I have another one to drill-up, most likely it will be drilled pin-down or label leverage. I will post updates within the next few days if I decide to tinker with the coverstock.

Picked one up about two weeks ago, had it drilled like my Black Diamond, 4 / 4 off my pap.  Pin is slightly above ring finger with a weight hole.  Compared to the diamond, it goes longer with a sharper turn to the pocket.  It's an excellent 1 - 2 combo to have.  When the lanes burn up or if you have room to play, great ball to use. Used it for three games and it's already paid for. Pin carry and drive is great, they used the old Yeah Baby core and I love it, I have two Yeah Baby's and they were good to me. For my style, I would say this is more of medium to med heavy ball, the diamond seems to move better for me, when there's more oil on the lanes. If your looking for something to get down the lane and explode in the end, I think you'll be surprised with the Xtreme, I certainly was.  

Once again, I would like to thank Tony Martin from Legends, he spent the time with me, discussing what I have and what I wanted and he was dead on with the the diamond and xtreme.

This is an update to the ball I reviewed below(I couldn't edit the post for some reason)

Update as of 1/3/10:

Got to use the ball a little more this past week, utilized the ball in box condition.  The XD in this condition has a little too much midlane bite for the house condition I bowl on.  I decided to throw a light polish on it using Legends polish.  The ball in this condition allowed me to get the ball through the mids alot easier than before.  I used the ball in league this past wednesday evening with the polish on it and proceeded to shoot 233-235-259=729 with 2 opens, 1 in each of the 1st two games.  Didn't have to make a move until the end of game #2, just made a basic 2-n-1 move and was fine the rest of the set.  I believe the XD with this surface prep is much more livelier than the box prep.  I really didn't lose much board coverage with the polishing, maybe a board to start but by nights end it was still quite aggressive.

Out of the Box: 15 lbs. 1 oz, 3.25 oz top weight, 3.5” pin, Factory Sheen Endurance Xtreme Particle Pearl

Drilled 35x5x30 (5” x 2.75”): Pin over ring finger, 2.25” from VAL/mid-plane, CG below and right of ring finger, static balance is finger positive, no weight hole

Excellent length on a medium-high volume Brunswick synthetic surface with late mid-lane read and a strong continuous backend. With the factory sheen finish, the Xtreme Damage (XD) is excellent on-line with strong recovery 1 to 2 boards right of target at breakpoint. No hold to left of target. Adding Lane Masters Factory Finish Polish resulted in a little more length, still excellent recovery on-line and 1 to 2 boards right, and adds a board or two of hold to left of target. This is where I left and maintain the coverstock. The XD, with this coverstock and drilling is useful on medium to medium-heavy conditions with medium to medium-long pattern lengths. The ball is too strong for light and/or short patterns. Very good pocket and light-pocket carry.

Coverstock versatility is a strength: I’ve used the ball with 1000, 2000 and 4000-grit Abralon finishes which are useful for heavy, medium to medium-heavy, and medium-light to medium conditions respectively. The XD coverstock is the most versatile and tunable Lane Masters/Legends coverstock that I’ve used and is on par with the most versatile coverstocks available from other bowling ball manufacturers. Zero loss of reaction after 100 league/tournament games and ~90 practices games. Coverstock durability remains a strength even with the highly versatile/tunable nature of the cover. Zero visible surface marks and no discernable track with close to 200 total games so I give the ball high marks for durability.

The polished finish also works well on HPL, SPL, wood and Guardian-type surfaces with medium to medium-heavy volume and moderate to long pattern length.

All-in-all, the Xtreme Damage is my favorite of the twelve LM/L balls that I’ve used. The strong yet consistent and controllable back end along with the durable and easily adjustable coverstock make this an exceptional addition to a long line of quality products.

Out of the box, I had it drill to specification that came with ball for med to heavy oil. And it does work in both conditions. The reason I got this ball was for the house I was bowling at ,it was notoriously known for ball damage. I bowled with this ball, it repeated shots, its a ten framer, light hits, you don't have to be high in the pocket to carry. I have been bowling 286, 280, 279 with it. This is a 3 to 5 board ball. I love this ball, not a scratch on it. Great job to Lanemasters!! I was so excited about this ball I will try another lanemasters. This is my first lanemasters ball. I received this ball from my local proshop and being a lefty with the backswing of jason couch and the rev rate of mike scroggins I found this ball really moves on the lane. It's imperative that you believe me when i tell you that this ball really hooks. If you can come out of the ball clean your almost guaranteed a strike. Only Problem I have with the ball is when I am on league play on the house shots I leave a Ton of 8 pins. Other than that the ball rolls up hard in the pocket and gives tons of room in a Marathon tournament. I highly recommend this ball for anyone new to Lane Masters or anyone who like to Strike.

i got this ball off palmer fellgren.i have this ball pin below ring finger rh.stacked with weight hole by thumb.ball left in box finish.this ball is sneaky.it will go werever  you put it with the right hand and speed.for me it works best 20 to 8 breakpoint at 5.it will spank the pocket.this ball for me is a good house shot ball.when you play more in the middle it will leave so splits for it retains to much energy.overall a great ball from l/m.my girlfriend has one she with a 159 avg shot 197 246 150.she left a few pocket splits. i would suggest this ball to anyone for a great ths.

Follow up to previous post.

I started using this ball towards the end of league play last year, due to the lanes began to break down earlier.  Ball gives nice length, with a sharp hard roll to the pocket, not a snap, but close enough to it.  I have two honor scores with this one, 300 and 299 the other day and should of had a few more.  Had it polished up, due to summer league bowling and wasn't let down.  Very impressed with it, I loved the Yeah Baby and this ball is all of the YB, with a stronger finish.  All I can say, ball is consistent in motion and predictability, has not let me down with great carry and pin movement.  Seems ball needs to be semi polished, to keep the pins moving. Had it dull and that was ok, with oil on the lanes, but with summer bowling and the lack of oil, I had to do something.  In any case, this ball seems to be better than the Black Diamond, with a stronger finish in the backend, it has a stronger roll and backend movement.  The BD may move earlier, but this finishes harder.  I have about 50 games on it and has not lost it's luster, will keep you updated with the durability of this ball.
