Female Ball Choice
« on: January 14, 2008, 04:59:02 AM »
Hello, my mom says she wants a new ball for her birthday but i don't know what to get her. She is 55, normal straight down the lane bowler with medium speed. Any suggestions?

I wouldn't get her anything to aggressive, if she's a basic straight baller. Look at the T Zones, White Dots, Maxims or if you're looking for something stronger a Tropical Storm. If she's looking for "looks" maybe a Viz A Ball of something she likes, just a thought.

What ball is she bowling with now?  Does she like it?  Does she want something that hooks more/less?  If you don't really know any of these it's best to go with her to the pro-shop and let them help her out.  Yeah not much of a surprise but at least she can get a ball she wants or is best for her style of play.

I'm of the idea that an entry-level reactive is a good choice. If she throws it end-over-end it will still go straight, but probably hit harder than polyester covers.  If she wants a slight hook they're great for that, too.

In entry-level I mean Power Grooves, Scouts, Tornadoes, etc.  You can tame them down even more with a conventional grip, but finger tip would be my first suggestion.  Good luck.
