Adding New to Old
« on: August 24, 2015, 07:18:25 PM »
So I'm returning to league bowling for the first time since 2008, I've had some of my equipment redrilled but I'm not sure anything will work on fresh oil given how oil has changed since 2008.

Right now

I have

Columbia Wrath XP
Brunswick Zone Classic
Storm Ragin Banshee
Columbia Super Trooper
Spare Ball

So I think I have Medium and below covered but I'm thinking I need something at the upper end.

My thoughts are Brunswick Mastermind Einstein, Storm Optimus Solid, Radical Guru Mighty or a Motiv Revolt Vengance. I don't think I need a really heavy oil ball for now.

Let me know what you think.

The Einstein is my favorite and most versatile of the Mastermind series.  It makes me look way better than I am.

Bowl with what you have first then determine if you need anything.  The equipment you have is fine for today's typical THS.  Perhaps a simple refresh is all it needs (resurface and de-oil).

If you decide to get into tournament bowling, then get with qualified pro shop to watch you bowl and let them assist you in deciding on equipment based on your style and the conditions you will see.

good answer.  not that much has changed in equipment since 08, and house shots don't play much different than they did then.  New equipment is always nice, but you current arsenal is not obsolete.

So just by way of an update I ended up having the thumb in the Zone Classic and Super Trooper redrilled. For tournaments I also drilled up a Thug Corrupt to handle a bit more oil.

So the line up basically looks like this to start league next week

Thug Corrupt
Wrath XP
Ragin' Banshee
Zone Classic
Super Trooper
Spare Ball

We'll see how everything works and maybe drill a few more balls for tournaments.
