Owner got locked out for non-payment...sucks for those who kept equipment on the premises.  Will probably also suck for any leagues that had the house holding funds...

I can remember bowling tournaments there many moons ago...that place and Sharpstown (later Dynamic) were the two that gave me the most fits for some reason.

My wife heard about this on Facebook.  Really is sad, and the owners just recently bought the place and renamed it.  I know the owners and haven't heard all the details yet, just hope it gets resolved in a positive manner.

If Palace (Bowl on Bellaire) were to go, that would mean there is not a single center inside the loop of Houston.  That is almost 100 square miles and 450,000 people in the 4th largest city in the nation...... without a bowling center.  (2.25 million people total in Houston and almost 7 million total in the metroplex).

it's always sad when things like this happens to any business.

Makes me think twice to renting a locker at the local bowlmor.

I've not really kept up with the goings-on since it has been more than a decade since I did much of anything with the sport...I had heard somewhere a while ago that they had changed hands.  Trying to remember if David Jay had been with Dynamic back in the day...was guessing so since what used to be the Luci was showing up on the schedule for July at Palace...

If those inside the Loop were truly interested in somewhere close, there is still technically Delmar, just outside the Loop.  That being said, I cannot say that Delmar was ever a place I felt safe even during the daylight hours.  It was, to me, as bad as Stadium in terms of risk...

I am actually surprised that Delmar survived all the construction nonsense there at 290 and 610...

Construction issues around Del Mar is one thing keeping me from going to see Donna and Carol's shop more often.  Plus, Del Mar isn't exactly large which is why Luci isn't held there.  And it isn't much of travel to some of the other outlying centers, just surprising to me. 

And to me, Stadium was the ultimate bowling center.  The two sides and just the enormity of it made a lasting impression on me.

I still think there is potential for more lanes in the Houston area.  It is just sad to see Palace go, especially with me knowing the owners.  Really wanted it to work out for them.

Way after the fact, but, Bellaire closed in late October/early November.  The recently concluded TNBA Southern Regional Tournament had to scramble because of the closing.  Ended up being held at Diamond, Willow, and Windfern.
