need help finding 13# with a good core
« on: February 02, 2011, 11:19:36 PM »
Im looking to buy my wife a new ball. She currently throws a 13 # columbia freeze. Im looking for something that is a step up that will give her some help to get the ball to the pocket on oily lanes, so she doesnt have to play too straight. I heard some manufacturers were putting the heavier weight core in lighter weight balls instead of the generic core. Any advice would be a great help. Thanks

MoRich is the only company that uses cores with the same specs as in heavier balls in their 13 lb balls.  The density of the core is modified to make the lighter weight, but the specs are the same.  Other companies go to a "generic" core in their 13 lb balls and to a pancake below 13 lb.  --  JohnP

Edit, 2/4/11 -- I should have said that other companies go to a generic core below 12 lbs instead of below 13 lbs.  I don't think MoRich makes any balls lighter than 13 lbs.--  JohnP

Brunswick use to go all the way down to 12 lbs, 11 1/2 if you go back far enough.
