Bowling Ball Concept
« on: March 12, 2018, 07:41:32 AM »
Had a thought come to me. Quite confident manufactures facilities are not properly equipped to full fill this but follow me here as Storm/RG as the example.

Ordering sheet:
1. Choose Weight

2. Choose Coverstock
 - R2S Solid
 - R2S Pearl
 - R2S Hybrid
 - R3S...
 - Etc...

3. Choose Weightblock
 - Inverted Fe2
 - Centripetal
 - Etc....

4. Choose Colors (3 Max)

5. Choose Name & Font

6. Choose Logo

Essentially you get to build-a-bear your bowling ball. They could grey out certain options based on other choices as well if they feel like the combination would give a bad look for the company in ball names or cover/core combos.
Current Rotation:
PhysiX
Code X
Code Black
Axiom Pearl
Phaze III
Trend
IQ Tour

Totally get it. Production nightmare.

Would require new machinery that has the ability to adapt quickly to new input. Something that in a sense works like the touch screen soda machines Coke or whomever put out. More advance to where orders are uploaded into the machine from a management system. The machine then would pull from the pre-loaded materials - changing for each order. You could even set it to queue up orders for a set amount of hours, organize them by similar core or coverstock and then send them through the process. Just rambling at this point but if the industry had the money of the NFL this could be done haha.

Maybe not for everyone, but probably so for Storm, Ebonite and Brunswick. Some of the smaller companies might be able to pull it off.

Several years ago when the REAL Lane Masters was still in business, it was pretty easy to make just one ball that was a different color and/or cover/core on their production line. But then they didn't have an automated production line, those balls actually were made "by hand". Not quite one at a time, but each ball was made individually.

The difference in per unit cost for the LM facility would have been drastically less than for the big companies.

If Brunswick could use the Brute logo  which occasionally ended up on a ball rack upside down, you can use that logo.

Hmmm, that's an idea - the HOURGLASS FIGURE core!!! I'm surprised that Banger Bowling didn't already come out with this.

Yeah lol.  Legends/Lane Masters has been on my radar due to my love of 2 piece bowling balls (which majority of their line up is) but just never pulled the trigger on any of their stuff.  Got some unique interesting pieces for sure.
