Bowling "department" at Dick's Sporting Goods
« on: March 08, 2008, 05:25:12 AM »
We have a new Dick's Sporting Goods opening here in the Portland metro area. We went to a VIP event last night for local business and sports folks. I was surprised to see one side of an aisle and an end cap containing bowling equipment. Mainly plastic stuff from Ebonite, but one particle and one urethane.

We asked who drills their stuff - they said that they have 3 certified drillers - and one's always there.

BTW - the store opens to the public on 3/29. It's an amazing place. This is the first one on the west coast.

Dicks is an awesome sporting goods store Mumzie. You are so right.
Speaking of their bowling supplies.....they obviously cater to the newbie, the true recreational bowler, and those who have been misinformed or know very little about the sport.
It's amusing that they focus on plastic balls. We've got three cats that throw 'high-end' Dicks balls. Each has a different type of ball. Let's see,.... 1 Urethane, 1 reactive, and 1 particle. All Ebonite. For the money, the seem pretty decent as far as performance goes. I could imagine that production quality isn't a big issue to Dicks or Ebonite. lol. Fortunately, those guys chose to have their balls drilled at a pro-shop.........
