Fresh Start to the Season Success---Do you have it?
« on: August 27, 2008, 12:49:39 AM »
I got off to a good start in a league the honor night shooting 300-837. Normally I would think nothing of it (maybe blaming the "welcome back" lane conditions) but Im curious.

I looked over my profile from bowl.com and realized that since 2000-2001, I have an honor score in either August or September every year except 1. Does the start of the season inevitably mean any of you will bowl/score well? I know there are people that take the summer off and "forget their bad habits". I dont. Ive only taken time off over the summer once and even that was only 6 weeks.

Im just wondering if anyone else, due to the outlook of a new season is rejuvenated and has consistent success at that time of year.

It might be lane conditions are just right for you.  I have noticed that my honor scores or better series come end of November - mid February.

Im so glad people are brainwashed to think that TRACK sucks. And its even funnier when im carrying with my TRACK ball and they're going flat ten with their BRUNSWICK ball.

I always hope I suck the first three weeks.

This year I need to suck the first three weeks because we get fined after the third week for games that are 20 pins under average

Hey Keith,
It was in the 5 Man League at West. Dont know what the name of it is anymore---used to be the Commercial League at Trindle, then became the Michelob Ultra League, now I think its the Coors Light League or something.

Scary thought for the night---my 579 after 2 was more the Mike Runk shot for 3 games...apparently the left didnt have the look I did...

My team---
Doug Ewing---520
Ray Haskins---580
Kyle Hatter---650 with a 240 3rd game
Freundel---610 with a 230 last game
Then me.

Sometimes NOTHUMBers have the advantage. Big hang spot killed everyone else---for me, it just allowed me to stay smooth.

I'm a notoriously slow starter. I can never put anything together until I get into the flow of the season a little bit. I can't really explain why, it's just the unfortunate truth.

haha i got off to a wonderful start at East in the boosters league.

199-200-201.. with an intentional beak shot on the last ball in the third to get my required 7 count.

ok maybe its not wonderful, but it wasnt less than a 600.

Well,

Considering the fact that I have decided to completely revamp my release this year to something that is more accomodating strong resin balls, my start wasn't TOO bad.

First game I'm cruising along and it looks like a 240 or so, until I put one through the beak and open in the ninth, then strike out for 208.

Second game, trying to figure out my adjustments, I open the 5th,6th, and 7th frames, them strike out for 195. 403 after two games.

Third game things finally came together.  Had the front 6, then went solid 9 - solid 8 back-to-back, and struck out again for a 268 game and a 671 series.

Think I'm going to bowl pretty good this year, IF I can keep my head on straight.

So far bowled three times twice on monday league and once in scratch league high series is 728 and low series is 699 funny thing was on the 699 2nd shot in the tenth hit my leg and the ball looked horrible but struck then on the 3rd shot let go of it great and on target and the ball didnt hook up and only got a 7 count. Starting out about normal.
