Carson City has a bowling alley. It's only 15 miles or so away in 395. It's in the Gold Dust West Casino.

Looked it up and it's 16.2 miles one way = 32.4 round trip. The site I checked said 27 minutes driving time = 54 minutes rounder. Throw in that the area driven probably has deer moving in and around the highway could make for a thrilling time when the sun is going down behind the hills too. Casino bowling alleys are alright if you don't mind the hustle and bustle of said venue. All in all it all boils down to how dedicated one might be to bowling. A definite plus would be that Reno is pretty darn close and the Nationals being held there most times has a lot to offer, that's for sure.

Gold Dust West isn't a bad house. The SP tournament has been there for the past 7 years, and they keep that place well kept.

Gardnerville is down by Minden-Tahoe, so it shouldn't be that bad.  In my time driving up for the SP tournament (coming from Sacramento, taking US 50 all the way), coming up from 395 shouldn't be that bad. 4-lane all the way, and with them building the US-50 bypass onto I-580, you won't have to drive through Carson City and its 35MPH speed limit to get to Williams street to cut over. That should make it a fairly easy drive for you.

Otherwise, you'd have to head further north to Reno/Sparks, as others have mentioned. But Gold Dust West is a nice house.
