Comparison between these balls....
« on: April 17, 2014, 11:58:14 AM »
Since this conversation compares multiple brands of balls, I'm putting it in the miscellaneous forum rather than the brand forums to avoid the normal arguing and posturing of the brand boys... :)

I am committed to building a new arsenal from Radical. Starting with a Torrid Affair that I love more with every game, I'm going to go above that with a Yeti Unleashed for Nationals. Also, being a low rev lefty, I can use a heavier oil ball in league spots where others can't...

Having said that, I have a little disposable income and can branch out to try something else on a lark.

Knowing that there is overlap between manufacturer's equipment and a lot of good pieces out right now, and using the Yeti Unleashed as a baseline, I would like opinions from people who have actually thrown the following in relation to the Unleashed...

Mastermind
Mastermind Genius
Deadly Aim
Pivot
Covert Revolt

I know there are others I could throw in (Ruckus Feud, Zero Gravity, etc...) but I'm focused on the first 6 for comparison....

Thanks in advance

Mastermind is more angular than the Unleashed but will handle about the same amount of oil.

Genius is longer obviously and comes off the spot pretty strong.  I didn't really match up with the Genius with a couple different layouts.

I would also check out the REAX versions 2's.  Both look really good and with the right surfaces, would fit below the Unleashed.  A little farther down the ladder the LT8, Melee, and Grease Monkey are all great pieces at a great price point.  The LT48 in particular is my favorite ball over the past few years ( I switched from Storm to Brunswick this year)

Thanks for the reply. I usually match up with symmetric better myself, so it's next for sure, but really interested in the Mastermind and the fact that you said it was more angular, which is something I've also been looking for in an alternative ball since everything I have is more in the smooth curve variety.

Thanks for the feedback.
