Inserting a quote
« on: January 02, 2011, 05:38:17 AM »
Is there a way with the new format to insert a quote without quoting the entire post?  Sometimes I want to comment only on a section of someone's post, and like to copy that section and paste it in my post.  We used to have a "quote" button to use, I can't find it now.  --  JohnP

First off you are in the wrong forum but that is ok As far as quoting it seems to work the same here. For some reason there is no quote button on the OP but any replies have a little speech bubble to the right of the profile picture. And at least last time I used it, it worked the same as it used to.

I think JohnP is asking about doing a partial quote, and I miss that ability also.

Would also like to see the ability to do the links like the old way, typing in the URL but using other words that are clickable, so that it is shorter and does not show the entire string of the URL. That might help keep the page narrow.

It's pretty much the same.  Hit the "quote post" button, then double click inside the quote box.  Once inside, you can edit out the stuff you don't need as usual.

When I click on "reply to topic", there are about 70 or more things listed  to click on but I cannot  locate a "post quote button". Can someone direct me to it?....Thamks

Not sure what you are talking about? Its not a option, its a button almost right about where it used to be. It works exactly the same just looks a little different...

Yes, but it's not nearly as easy. First, you have to manually copy what someone has said, then you can push the quote reply button from one of the replies, then go to the bottom and change to HTML mode, then edit and insert the proper info as you like it.

Test to see if just part of Jugernaut's post shows.  Did not use HTML, just deleted everything else.

OK, that should work but it would still be nice to have the equivalent of the old "quote" button.  And re the "wrong forum" comment, I only visit a few forums, wanted to post the question where I would see the answer without changing my routine.  --   JohnP

While I totally understand your reasoning, the admin did say that only bowling related threads should be in here, and that EVERYTHING non-bowling related should be in the miscellaneous/non-bowling forum.
