I need your advice fellow BR.. I bowled my first and second 500 series of the season in back to back weeks. Low 500's in fact....

To make this short, the last two weeks I fell into the "trap", if that's correct to say. O/U reaction and more.  I bowl on a THS 38' buff to 40'ish and on the second shift.

The last two weeks it went something like this. When I'm inside everyone else, I can carry but I have no area. When I'm hanging out with everyone else on the outside, I have area, but I can't carry. (arsenal: Hyroad, LT-48 [new], Blue Hammer) I normally can get to the pocket and hit what I'm looking at. But, when I start having issues it gets to me mentally. End results are series like these.

There are many nights in which the inside (inside everyone else) line works and I can let it go. And on the flip side, I can move out and stay in the barrel and ride the pipeline to the pocket. The last two weeks though, this wasn't the case.

Side note: All three of the balls I mentioned all have the same layout and all but the blue are OOB. The LT-48 seems stronger than I thought. I feel like it could use a little more length. So I'll be changing the cover on it tonight.

More surface and play left of everyone else.  Be the lead shimwrecker, not a follower.  I always wanted to be left of everyone else if the lanes are easy.

I certainly wouldn't be afraid to knock the gloss off the LT-48.  If it were me I'd try 2000 (at the most) and then throw it again and see.  That should smooth out overall motion and allow a small move inside to start.  Possibly even a similar line but a more smooth reaction.

When going to league I have two reactive balls and a spare ball.  I try not to have both reactives shiny or dull.  Usually one of each. 

Although we usually get comfortable with each house's shot and what to expect, you never know when the lane machine malfunctions and you need something with a little different read front to back as well as side to side on the lane.  Good luck, and let us know how it went.

Thanks Lane,

I just got the LT-48 this week and I could see this ball getting a lot of play time. I'll give that a try and update.

A friend is enjoying his LT-48 and he is able to use his up the boards or along the track. Not sure if it's OOB or something else. I couldn't play this area last night with this new ball. the ball read too soon for me and got flat. Inside was a better move, but I had to be a shot maker lol.... i'm just joe bowler... it carried well and I liked it.

I'll work on the cover this week and give it a try. Guys last night who were around the track and out, a lot of them had a lot of surface balls and were destroying the right side. Locks, Snap Lock, older sanded track balls, a older hammer ball (looks like a gum ball)..the right side is just busy, not to mention the league before us....

Next week will be interesting.

I like the lead shimwrecker idea. Get in with some surface and have the whole puddle to yourself!

there are times that puddle disappears fast on me, and I quickly sneak up to the left channel. Before I reach that zone where I don't have enough to bring it back or have any hold, I ball down, move right, and I become the follower again.

And it goes a little some thing like this: I go from the hyroad to the blue - reason I got the LT-48 this week so it wouldn't be so drastic.

This is a complete list of stuff I own. how would assemble a three ball bag?

No Rules - (I won this ball) polished over the OOB with 65x5.25x45
Wreck it - (I won this ball too) not drilled
Hyroad oob 4x4x2 p3
LT-48 oob same as above 
Blue hammer 5k same as above
Breeze 3k 5 1/8 x 5
Lane XXXL

drill the wreck it.  5 1/2 inch pin, no x-hole.  get the surface about the same as the hyroad.

a blue hammer isn't the answer bowling second shift.

That's one problem with being the lead shimwrecker. Sometimes, you shimwreck yourself. If you're bowling second shift, use the no rules in practice to carve yourself a little spot left of all the other traffic and start to bump off of that.

Or just go 2 handed. It's the wave of the future! #shimbewrecked
