Moving to Cypress Texas-Where are the best bowling centers
« on: June 23, 2012, 11:32:36 AM »
Hello,
I am moving to Cypress Texas late in the summer and looking for a good center with scratch and senior leagues. Any good centers to choose from in the area?

Thanks!

Randy

Randy, I used to live in Cypress myself. Great area. For scratch leagues, the best is second shift Wednesday nights at Copperfield Bowl. It is 4 people per team, with a cap that is voted on every year, usually around 825-835. There are some very good bowlers in the league: a few PBA regional members like Mike Austin, former PBA touring pro Pete McCordic, former USBC Sr. Masters winner Rick Minier. High average was usually around 235 when I was bowling there. For Sr stuff, look up SASBA on the net, they have monthly tournaments with some top-quality Sr bowlers. But I don't know about any normal Sr leagues unfortunately. Good luck with your move and with your bowling. Please feel free to ask any other questions about the area or about bowling there, I will be glad to answer.

I lived just off from 249, near cypress for a few years.  Bowled in a league at AMF Willow.  Wouldn't recommend it... Still remember first shot of the first night... Sparks as the ball touched the lane, in the ditch by the arrows....
This house seemed to be all about the open bowler.....
Practiced a few times in Tomball.... May have been worse there....

Conroe had a decent center and would run a few tournaments.  Otherwise, I'd suggest with Jorje... Check out Copperfield and if you need anything, stop downtown to visit Mike Austin.
