That neo tac ball cleaner smells just like windex. Explains why the stuff was a horrible product.

Sorry Kid, but I disagree with you and believe you are wrong. For me, the Neo Tac is the best ball cleaner I have ever used and I've used about all of them. Jaborni said "Windex" and I'm positive he knows what he is talking about, so if the Neo Tac smells like Windex, and Windex is the best ball cleaner, then that explains why Neo Tac is so good.

Windex....it's what most ball cleaners are based on.  Just smell them, they are all household cleaners with expensive price tags.

For the record....I had nothing to do with this.....again.

Randy,.....NO! Windex is to clean glass and formica, etc.....there are no oil/grease cutting properties in Windex....

Bowling ball cleaners ARE NOT Windex based!

Windex or no Windex, I have no clue. I do know however, that Neo Tac is the best ball cleaner I have ever used and I have used about all of them. About the only one I have not tried is one that I have heard is made by Mike Cimba and of which is supposed to be really good. He has a name here on BR, but I don't recall what it is at the moment. I think it is PBA something. I believe Joe Falco has his name.

believe it or not I used this stuff called super mean green. It's a degreaser and it helps push a ball to about 150 games before a drastic change in reaction.
I used to use Neo-Tac but I'm not paying 10 bucks a bottle for a one month supply.

By doing this I am opening myself up to MASSIVE criticism, but the best thing I have ever used over an extended period, is a 60/30/10 mix of rubbing alcohol, acetone, and windex ( or any comparable glass cleaner.

Yes, I know that rubbing alcohol isn't supposed to be a degreaser, and yes, I know that acetone can be harmful to your equipment if used improperly, and I know that windex is not a degreaser.

I am not advocating the manufacture or use of this concoction, I am just saying it works for me.

I know I will most likely be lambasted for this, but it really does work for me, and I have kept balls alive for longer periods of time than most by using this mixture.  I have never had any detrimental side effects ( balls cracking, balls softening, particles melting ) from using this mixture, but I use it in very small quantities, using it only as a superficial cleaner.  If my equipment gets to the point that it needs more than this, I take it to an approved shop to have it done, but this seems to lengthen the time between having to have them professionally cleaned and re-surfaced.

IMHO, best household stuff is 409. Cleans, degreases and leaves the ball nice and tacky. The only thing it doesnt do well is remove small track marks from the oil.

I use 409, Simply Green or a water/dishwash soap to remove the oil and gunk that builds up on my stuff at home or the shop with a spinner. One thing that I've found that works for me at tournaments or when on the road is the little Handi-wipe packets that you find in almost every resturant/gas station on the way out. I use about 3 0r 4 on each ball after I finish bowling,..they seem to leave the ball nice and clean, and take off the black and scuff marks with just a little rubbing..plus they travel right in my bag,..no spill, no muss, no fuss. And did I mention that they're free.

Huh?????? I paid $5.95 for the 6 oz. White Bottles called "Liquid Nitro" at my Pro Shop. Since then he ran out and now has 4 0z. Black Bottles  still Neo Tac but called ball cleaner, for $4.95. He claims the White Bottles of "Liquid Nitro" are no longer available. True or not, I don't know and Neo Tac doesn't show a Web Site address or E-mail so that a person can contact them. I would like to know if they still make the Liquid Nitro or not as it was my favorite. Block Buster shows both bottles. All other sites show only the white bottles. All I know is that at $10 you are paying too much. You can order on line and even with the shipping costs, it is cheaper than $10.

I used the cleaner that smells like oranges and and mixed finesse-it in with it.
It works well for the pearlized ball. It almost looks the same as the energizer
cleaner that ebonite puts out. It works jsut as good.

Fantastic suggestions! Like BRICKGUY says .. I have been used a product that MIKE CIMBA has and have been very happy with it. Someone has put Mike's BR name here so I'll just post his toll free number:1-888-884-8734. Mike has a SPECIAL LABEL on the product so I can't define too much about it! I use it after each bowling session .. keeps my bowling balls looking NEW!

Most are probable asking PRICE .. I can't recall .. never bought the product by itself .. always had it delivered with one of my bowling balls .. never look at the detail bills!

Some of the suggested methods of cleaning seem reasonable .. but the CIMBA package comes in a spray bottle and all you have to do is SPRAY/RUB IT OFF for a CLEAN BOWLING BALL!

pnj1967, I've tried that link before and just now tried it again. Where it says "contact us", when I click on that link all I get is a page that says "Under Construction". I've been getting this same page for 3 months or more now. Apparently, they don't update their web page or they don't want people contacting them. I just want to know what the deal is on the 4 oz. black bottles that has clear cleaner in them and the 6 oz. white bottles that has pink cleaner in them. I thought the white bottles was the latest stuff and my pro shop guy says, "No, the white bottles is old stuff. They quit making it. The black bottles is the new stuff." I told him a member on this site told me the opposite and he says they are lying to me.....Soooo, what is true and what isn't? Can anyone help? Even if I had a phone number to Neo Tac, I can't call them because I have a hearing handicap and can't talk on the phone.
